I'm having a hard time rating this one. As a sequel, I think it did its job well, but as a story I didn't feel like there were stakes at play that made it seem like there would be huge consequences. I think where this book shines is its characters, I very much enjoyed just hearing what shenanigans the kids were getting in to. Also, a bit preachy at times with little nuance, I can tell the author is an advocate but at certain points in the story I was just eye rolling. Overall, a solid follow up to a perfect original that didn't really need it.

Hmmm, I am of mixed opinion. Magical realism isn't really my jam, but I didn't mind it as much as I thought, just that the rules of this universe were a bit confusing to me. The art style was beautiful, if not DARK, I had a hard time seeing things at times. The story left me feeling warm and fulfilled and that's what made me enjoy this.

Def not my favorite of the series, but still a great time nonetheless. Just don’t feel like much happened here and we didn’t see hardly any of Fukumaru.

Not my favorite Emily Henry book, but still a good time! I didn’t think I would like the flashbacks but they ended up working out by the end. These people fell in love WAY too fast.

MY HEART!!! As a child of divorce with step siblings... yeah, very relatable. SO glad to see there's more in this series, I wanted more!

This is a tough book to review. The real appeal hear is seeing an early look at a prolific travel writer and business man, through the lens of his 23 year old travels and how that impacted him. But also, this is written by a 23 year old, as the primary text is pulled from his journals of this epic trip he took. Would it have ever been published if it weren't for it being thee Rick Steves? Maybe not. Nonetheless, I felt very inspired reading this, and especially for how I journal my travels!

Really not understanding the low rating here. This embodies the feelings of your late 20's down the nitty gritty details. The main character is flawed, chaotic, impulsive, messy, but somehow still endearing. I related to this more than I want to admit, but who hasn't felt chaotic at such a transitional period of your life?

I wouldn’t normally “read” a cookbook but this was filled with so much life and humor and it was impossible not to! Do not read on an empty stomach. Very much looking forward to trying a lot of these recipes!

great travel writing, if maybe lacking a hit of overall direction but, loved hearing the author’s perspective. especially about passport inequality!
