- Great simple language for young readers
- Love the conversational tone. Makes the text engaging
- The questions are a nice way to bring that conversational tone to life
- It was nice to see real pictures instead of illustrations to show the personal aspect of the story
- Author's note in the back is informative and wraps up the personal story well

I think this is a great book that covers the theme of consent in a more kid-friendly way. The use of mermaids and sea creatures can help make the story more understandable for younger readers and shows that they have the right to accept or deny hugs.

- I didn't love this one. It just felt really all over the place and I had a hard time focusing on which part of the text I should be reading. With this being said, however, I don't want to discredit the effectiveness of this book. This seems like it would be a great resource to offer a reader looking to learn more about their local birds and how to best go about discovering which birds live in their area. Just not the book for me.
- Illustrations give an overwhelming feeling to the page
- This is definitely more suited for older youth readers
- Information seems really solid and can be a really great book

- Strong, vibrant, and beautiful illustrations. A unique style that helped bring texture to the page
- Informative story that brings in the importance of the topic - saving endangered species - and covers the impact humans have had on nature
- Takes a general topic of environmentalism and puts it on a specific focus of a bird species
- Love that the text is multilingual, incorporating the language of the people from where these birds live. It was also very helpful to have the phonetic spelling of the words at the bottom so readers can educate themselves on how to properly say each word

- Book was okay and the information was solid. Just something that I did not love about it. Maybe because it is written and illustrated by two men from New York, but I know with biographies "anyone" can write them. I just think having the story told from an indigenous, even female, perspective might help. I know this is also part of a series of biographies that Brad Meltzer has written.
- Illustrations are unique; help to emphasize the young age of the main character
- I wish the author took the time to share her real, indigenous name and more about her indigenous life (the little of that she was able to experience with her family)
- Information was clear and laid out in a manner that is easy to follow

- Love the way in which this story is told - ideas and activism
- Story is told in a way that is emotional but not too heavy for young readers. I appreciated the way it was made into a sort of sandwich: Harvey's idea and how it came to life, the assassination, the advancement of the idea Harvey shared.
- Beautifully detailed illustrations
- Interesting biography and a story I had not heard of prior to this book

- Strong story with enough information to be catching but not too much to turn away younger or less confident readers
- Unique and creative illustrations. Strong partner to the story
- I like how the story covers more than just the main character, Elgin Baylor, by integrating his story with other powerful individuals
- Author's note, further reading, and timeline in the back of the book are helpful to gain more insight on Elgin Baylor's life and those of influence during his life.
