With unique illustrations on each page, this book shares fun and interesting facts about octopuses, like that the largest octopus was 600 pounds! The text uses simple, vivid language with sidebars and back matter to provide more detailed information. 

The minute I saw Dinosaur manga I knew I had to check it out.

For a dino-lover, this was a fun and unique universe to be thrown into - Dinosaurs were discovered alive on a remote island and were brought into a zoo-like facility to be monitored and explored. Through research, breeding, and genetic manipulation, the dinosaur population has increased. A novice dino-keeper steps up, determined to create an experience at Dinoland that will keep people coming into the park and thus save the dinosaurs from extinction. 

I truly had such a lovely time reading this book. It was dinotastic in all the best ways, and I think it can very easily appeal to a wide audience of readers. 

A beautiful conclusion to the Gifted Clans series. 

Riley Oh was not born into her family. She has fallen from the sky as the last fallen star. Because of this, and the discovery of her soul-twin, the last fallen moon, Riley and Dahl are expected to lead the world into the Age of the Final Eclipse. Riley, however, becomes caught up in a war with the goddesses, one that will challenge Riley with many quirky quests. 

I am obsessed with this trilogy, and Graci Kim wrapped up Riley's story in such a powerful and emotional way. I cannot wait to recommend this series and hopefully get my hands on the physical copies to read and annotate Riley's amazing stories!

A moving graphic memoir about growing up in a sex-obsessed world and discovering asexuality. 

Wesley is excited for her big day and her writing debut! Wesley's poem about Indigenous People's Day will be printed in the school's newspaper, and she feels like she has worked up the courage to ask her crush to go to the school dance with her! From the moment Wesley steps on the morning bus, however, none of her plans seem to...well, go to plan. 

This is a comforting story of finding self-worth, recognizing that your voice is important, and finding community to support you and show that you do belong. This is my first Christine Day novel, and I enjoyed the themes and messages it brought. I will be recommending this to middle-grade readers. 

Flight 171 is a quick-paced thriller that takes place during a 4-hour plane ride with a group of high school students and a sinister, unearthly beast. Devon is still grieving the loss of her sister and trying to uncover who killed her when her senior class boards a plane to Denver for a ski trip. Shortly into the trip, a supernatural terror takes over the plane and gives the high schoolers an ultimatum - choose one person in their group to sacrifice before the end of the flight or the plane will crash, killing everyone. 

I did rate this book based on my reading experience, however, though this thriller wasn't my favorite due to the semi-shallow plotlines, I feel confident in saying that teen readers will eat this book up. It has all the elements of an edge-of-your-seat thriller with a mystery that keeps you wondering almost to the end. 

Being a moth keeper is a giant responsibility and takes much training and practice to succeed. When Anya is finally moth keeper, she feels like this is where she is meant to be, until she starts to consider what it is like to live under the sun. When she takes the chance, the moths and village people have to deal with the consequences. 

As with their other works, the storytelling was beautifully supported by brilliant illustrations. I enjoyed the full-page illustration spreads peppered amongst the written story. This does read a bit on the younger end of middle-grade, however, I think that readers of all ages will appreciate the storytelling, the world-building, and the themes of friends, exploration, and community.

This was a fun addition to the Percy Jackson series! I know that readers of all ages will enjoy jumping (back) into this universe.
