I was wondering when Thatcher and Banks were going to pull off the old twin swap trick and I guess this was it. Jane’s family ends up going on a trip and she is supposed to be staying away from Thatcher in public and have minimal contact with him, so of course, they come up with the genius plan to have Thatcher and Banks switch places since Banks is supposed to be Jane’s security for the trip. We get more time with Jane’s family in this book and it’s always interesting to see Jane’s family interact with anyone outside of their own family, honestly. They are an intelligent weird bunch. My favorite part of the book was probably all of Jane’s siblings banding together to help one of their siblings when they’re in trouble. Healthy sibling dynamics always make me a smile a bit in books. It also seems we are getting more tid bits into what is going on between Akara and Sullivan. I’m dying to know more, but it seems I’ll have to wait a while, unfortunately. Same with Donnelly and Luna. Thatcher is a really good person and he really shows it at the end of this book. I’m glad Jane and him are happy by the end. Still looking forward to a few of the other couples.

I think I may have enjoyed this one more than the first book. Pippa and Cross are both incredibly intelligent characters and Pippa is a woman with strange interests, especially for a woman in her time period. She is nerdy, straightforward, and loyal to her word to a fault. It was great to see her find someone that instead of being confused by her was intrigued and even attracted to her exploratory personality, her thirst for learning, and how odd she was. Cross is a caring man that cares more than he lets on. It was also great to get a female protagonist that wears glasses. I honestly can’t recall the last time I read a historical fiction novel where that was a thing. I do wish that the story gave them more than a 2-week timeframe to get to know each other and fall in love. I feel like it made the suspension of disbelief a bit more difficult for me personally as far as a love story goes. Then again, this was a different century where people were betrothed on less, and I think that helped me get over it a bit. Cross is very secretive about his past throughout the book and we do eventually get to delve into his past, and man, is it an interesting past. I think that despite the fast pacing of the story, there is not just lust between the two characters, but also a consistent interest in the other’s intellectual prowess (especially at the end when Pippa shows us what a genius she is). Hell, by the end I was thinking that if Cross didn’t marry Pippa, I would. In the end, I still think this is a good romance, especially if you like more brainy characters.

I am so happy I picked this back up again. This run does an excellent job of introducing the important aspects of the Green Lanterns Corps and making you love the members even if you're unfamiliar with them. We get to see the Yellow Lantern Corps work together with the Green Lanterns in the middle of a crisis. Soranik makes an excellent leader for the Yellow Lanterns and complements John Stewart's leadership incredibly well. We get hint of her past romantic relationship with Kyle Rayner and I thought that was interesting. He gets some excellent character development in this volume and so does Guy Gardner. Guy and Kyle both make sacrifices for the sake of the Corps and really shine in their loyalty to their friends and strong willpower. The ending of this arc was quite a surprise and I'm sure Kyle is going to have to sift through a lot of things emotionally due to the new information he found out at the end of the battle against Sarko. I'm looking forward to it and hoping for the best. I've also grown a giant soft spot for Guy Gardner and I can't wait to see more of his friendship with Arkillo.

We get a bit more time with Hal at the beginning of this volume as he goes on a mission back on Earth. Despite his pride in being a Green Lantern he has things he misses from Earth, namely his love interest Carol. I'm hoping that we get to see him be able to reunite and talk to her again at some point. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be any time soon. I would also kill to see Hal hang out with Clark's family. I'm sure Jon loves the happy go lucky Hal Jordan.

We also begin another separate arc where the guardians are kidnapper and all the human lanterns on Mogo team up to go get them. This was my favorite arc in this volume because even more importantly than making a great team, all of them are amazing friends that have each other's backs and we get to see each of them shine in what they do best. I'm still really happy with this run and I'm looking forward to seeing Zod for the next arc. Great volume!

Zod has always been an interesting villain and this volume shows what a formidable opponent he is (together with his family of Kryptonians). Kyle was not looking great this issue with how injured he was in the fight, but seeing Hal and him team up to work their way out of this one was amazing. Hal is stubborn and smart and Kyle has all the willpower worthy to be a Green Lantern. The solidarity the Corps holds with each other was my favorite part of the issue. When it comes down to it, if they have to disobey orders in order to fight for each other, they all will. I'm almost done with this run and I'm going to be quite sad when it's over because it's been such a positive experience.

I'm always happy to see Jon and Damian working together again. The villains for this story arc are quite funny. Think of them as a mini version of a league of evil villains based on the ones from Earth. Joker Jr. is the most interesting to me so far and I hope he's able to get back home and be left in peace. The poor boy just wants to have some sense of normalcy after everything Rex Luthor has done. For Jon and Damian things are about to get more complicated. Welcome to space juvi guys! An entertaining run so far.
