A witch stuck in a magical house alone for years suddenly finds her enemy and the man who has been haunting her dreams for as long as she can remember suddenly at her door. Aisling is the last witch left, she guards her family home that is the source of all their powers and the power that the fae are desperate to devour. She’s been trapped, alone, grieving the lost of her family... isolated and the void in the home is growing. Niall is tormented, cruel, and twisted... he is bloodthirsty and sadistic... yet he will do anything to free his brother. Niall has been dreaming of the same girl all his life, and when he decides to sacrifice himself in stead of his brother to the home that could kill him he finds that it is occupied by said dream girl and that the home hasn’t killed him but allowed him inside. Now he must find the source of the magic to protect the fae lands and his brother... but he finds that he does not want to betray the beautiful woman who lives her and who has consumed his every thought. Fighting between obligation and feelings, Niall will have to decide where his path lies and if it means betraying the one person who has chosen to love him. Aisling finally has the man of her dreams in her home, she is finally not alone but he is hiding secrets as well as the fact that he is emotionally stunted and runs at the first sign of feelings. His betrayals will run deep, and she’ll have to ask herself if she can forgive him and embrace his sadistic side as well. It also doesnt help that her powers are growing while the house is slowly beginning to crack... and that the fae will want to burn down her house and kill her. Trapped inside with the enemy who consumes their every thought, Aisling and Niall will hurt each other but ultimately find a love neither had expected.

A woman who still sees the ghost of her husband, a camp with an age old murder mystery, family tensions, and missing knives. Nora still grieves the loss of her husband Takeo but now she has married his best friend Paul. When Paul’s parents become ill and he is called home to get the camp ready to be sold he takes Nora with him. At the camp there is Paul’s son Leon, Paul’s brother Gabe, Gabe’s wife Silash and Gabe and Silash’s children. After a rocky dinner it becomes apparent there is tension between everyone. Silash has also brought her collection of 13 knives that she is obsessed with... but soon they begin to disappear one by one and the tension of ghosts and old murder mystery as well as complicated family secrets starts to build... and soon bodies will drop. Nora will soon discover that Paul has other motives for wanting to come to the camp and that Silash treats her with resentment for a different reason other than a rocky bad first dinner. The story felt like it dragged on and the overall ending felt lacking. You don’t really find yourself invested in the mystery or caring for the characters... and the fact that you never really get to know what happens to the disappearing knives is a let down.

A haunted house experience, a journalist with a story to write, and an experience that he’ll never forget. The story follows Tyler, an investigative journalist who ends up being the only person available to write up an important review of the hot new haunted house. Void is more than a haunted house, its a psychological nightmare designed to find your breaking point and change your life. Tyler is the worst possible person to do this since he hats haunted houses and he hates being scared but when his company gives him no choice he finds himself at the door of the place. The rules: you can’t touch the actors but they can touch you, you can leave any time just tell an actor, do not speak unless told to, and if you ask to stop the experience or leave, you have to go immediately. Tyler finds that the deeper he gets into the haunted house the more he begins to see something unsettling, and he also begins to fall for the very attractive PA who is tending as the elevator watch person. Is anything real? Is there really a monster in there? Is the attraction and connection between him and the beautiful woman in the elevator real? Tyler will have to face his fears and overcome them if he wants to get the girl and make it out. This one definitely felt like a good halloween haunted house read with a tiny bit of romance, it does not feel as connected to the rest of the shadow market series books and it definitely feels like an anthology episode of Into the Dark or American Horror Stories rather than a dark paranormal romance in the Shadow Market Series.

A strained relationship, hurt, pain, love, and a mission. Augustus and Ariadne use to be close, guardians and partners, bonded, lovers, and half of each other’s soul... until he betrayed her for the Order they worked for and left her. She’s burned with a hatred ever since... and now he needs her help in rescuing the girl that replaced her. She swore to kill him next time she saw him but he can’t keep away anymore, he needs her... and for more than just the mission. Augustus wants to explain everything, he wants to beg for forgiveness and he wants to be in her life again, in any way she’ll have him... but their relationship had always been complicated. It was a forbidden relationship yet they couldn’t deny that they were made for one another.. and now he wants to remind her and rekindle the fire between them. He’ll do anything to have her again. Ariadne doesn’t know whether to rip the demon in front of her apart or to kiss him, she yearns for the answers to why he did what he did to her, she wants him to tell her he left the Order and that he wants her..., yet she can’t trust her heart with him. Can the hurt between them be forgiven or will they have to leave each other forever? This one was STEAMY. Like oh my gosh I did not expect that. The romance between them was great though, aside from all the steaminess, the romance was so well done. They are two people who love each other so much but are willing to do everything to protect the other, even if it means hurting one of them.

A archeology grad student who sets out to find a missing castle is kidnapped and brought forth to the fae queen and will not be freed for three days.... a lot can happen in three days. Samhain approahces and Janneth, now finds herself brought to the Court of Stag solely because the fae queen wants her. All her life she’s wanted more, she’s filled with greed, she’s too much, so she’s limited herself and focused on her school work... yet now brought into a world of pleasure and debauchery, she strikes a deal with the fae queen... yet the more she learns about this queen the more Janneth finds that she might not want to leave at all and that she fits in perfectly with this world.... yet the queen has her own purposes for picking Janneth and there are darker secrets here.... will Janneth make it out of the court alive in three days or will she finally find a place to be herself and call home? This was a pretty cute story about two people who have yearned for more and have found something in each other.

Gorgons, a god of death, sacrifices, and revenge. Stheno is a Gorgon, her sister Medusa was killed, and in order to save her other sister she is willing to do anything... even killing a god. Yet after her first attempt at killing him, she realizes that he is extremely difficult to kill... and that he definitely should not be as charming or as crazy as he is. Between saving her sister, dealing with her feelings for a god she’ll have to kill, and finding a way to get what she wants when others begin to hunt her... Stheno has her work cut out for her. This was a pretty fun one to read, especially with the Greek myth aspect and of course, I’m always a sucker for a Gorgon story.

A bruja who is cursed to lose anyone who falls in love with her and a merman who is trapped in a contract after getting his heart broken. Amada Palacios has taken on the entire curse that has plagued the women in her family... at first things were fine, with only marks being left on her but recently she’s begun to feel unbearable pain. Now she has ventured to Scotland in search of the Grand Master of the Abyss who is said to have a cure for any curse...for a price. He offers her this: in exchange for 10 years of her life he will find a cure for her curse. She has the night to think it over, and that’s when she meets Rónán, a merman who had made a bargain with the Grand Master and is now his slave, put on display and forced to do everything he says. After Amada saves Rónán they feel a connection... but this does not go unnoticed by the Grand Master who wants Amada desperately... and he sends Rónán to convince her to take the deal... yet he can’t. Rónán is a merman warrior of a dead kingdom, he made the bargain for someone he loved only for them to break his heart... and now he is being held captive, yet Amada is the first person to capture his attention after all these years. Now Rónán and Amada must figure out how to break her curse, free him from his contract, and find out why The Grand Master is so obsessed with Amada. This was a cute read and I enjoyed the romance between two characters who have both been hurt by love and can recognize the pain that they’ve both experienced.

Dark histories, family secrets, murder, and sapphic romance come together in this story about one girl’s journey as she discovers her family’s secrets. Avery Anderson is 17 years old and her life is uprooted, having to move from DC into the hostile home of her terminally ill grandmother, Mama Letty. Avery had plans for her summer but now she is stuck in a home filled with tension between her mother and her grandmother who she doesn’t know anything about. Every time Avery tries to get them to talk about why they are the way they are, what happened to them, she is turned away or given the cold shoulder. Avery wants to find out what has caused the split in her family and why her mother and grandmother are constantly fighting.... and why she never knew her grandfather. With her grandmother’s time running out, Avery is determined to discover everything and spend more time with her. Yet things get even more complicated when Avery grows close to Simone Cole ( her gorgeous next door neighbor and the daughter to her mother’s childhood friend) and Jade Oliver ( the daughter of the town’s most prominent family). The racist history of Bardell, Georgia will awaken in Avery a rage and sadness she never knew as she discovers what has happened to her family and her family’s history with the town. The more she discovers the more things from the past will come back today and the more relationships will be tested. This was a stunning book on racism, generational trauma, grief, and queer coming out. I was absolutely sucked into the story and the journey that Avery went through. I would highly recommend this book!

Now she has to deal with family drama, her complicated feelings with Ian, her traumatic childhood memories, the burning rage in her, and horror that something has happened to her that has forever transformed her into something else.... and trying to figure out WHO did this to her. This was such an interesting story, it definitely was like a coming of age story more than a horror werewolf story, it was about Rory’s journey into growing as a person and dealing with her childhood and family drama as well as opening herself up to love. This is definitely a wonderful Autumn read perfect for the spooky season!
