A woman wakes up with no memory of where she is or how she got there... and she discovers that the place she thought she lived in is not the same and other people live there... and there is a bloodstained knife in her pocket. On her hand are various messages scribbled, but most importantly one that says “ STAY AWAKE.” Liv Reese is a woman who wakes up with no memory of the past two years, she doesn’t know what has happened to her, how she’s been living her life, and why she keeps forgetting everything every time she falls asleep. Two years ago she was living her life as a successful writer for a trendy magazine, she had a loving best friend, a handsome boyfriend, and everything was great... until strange things and notes started showing up in her apartment. Live swears she is being watched, that someone is stalking her, but no one will believe her. She tries to report it to the police but they don’t believe her... and when a horrific thing happens and leaves her scarred and suffering from amnesia she now finds herself two years later back in the place where the crime happened... and apparently the killer is still on the loose and has noticed she is back. Liv will now have to trust herself and her guts if she wants to make it out alive. Liv will have to gather up all the missing clues and pieces of her life and try and solve the mystery of what happened to cause her to become like this and who the killer is, and with sleep as a ticking countdown to her memory resetting, she’ll have to stay awake for as long as she can before she starts the cycle again. This was a fantastic take on the unreliable narrator perspective, i thoroughly enjoyed the mystery and the story kept me so invested until the very end! i have loved the rest of the works written by this author and this one definitely did not disappoint!

Pirates, Assassins, flying ships, and tragic family pasts come together in this story about a lady who dreams about joining the senior table at the society of rogueish women and the assassin that is in love with her but is hired to kill her. Cecilia Bassingwaite is the ideal Victorian lady... except she is also a thief and a member of the Wisteria Society, a crime sorority. Cecilia spends her time drinking tea, blackmailing friends, acquiring treasure, and being an all around rogue. However Cecilia has a tragic past herself, one that is coming back for her. Ned Lightbourne is a sometimes pirate, sometimes scoundral and rake, and a captain. Ned is smitten with Cecilia the first moment she meets him and slams a door in his face. Too bad he’s been hired to kill her from one employer and another employer has hired him to kidnap her for his own reasons. Ned is employed by Captain Morvath, a dangerous man who possess a gothic abbey bristling with cannons and a deep hatred for the Wisteria Society for taking his wife and turning her against him... and he now wants Ned to bring him Cecilia. While avoiding assassination attempts mixed in with flirtation, Cecilia and Ned start to bond but both realize they’ll have to rely on each other if they want to make it out alive as Captain Morvath and the Wisteria Society head to war against one another. Filled with pirate like ladies, a rakish assassin, magic, and complicated family histories this was a mixture of historical romance with bits of fantasy.

A witch on the hunt for an amulet and the pirate whose heart she’s stolen. Miss Charlotte Pettifer is part of a secret league of women skilled in the subtle arts of witchcraft. She’s sharp witted, great at stealing things, and has a collection of shoes with weapons in them. When she steals a briefcase from a handsome pirate she soon finds herself in for more than she expected. Alex O’Riley despises witches, after a terrible childhood with a witch he’s been bent on never interacting with one... except now a beautiful and sharp witch keeps popping into his mind every since she stole his briefcase. When a powerful amulet has everyone vying to steal it, Charlotte and Alex find themselves entangled together on the hunt for this amulet... and entangled in more than just the hunt... but rather each other and the bed sheets as the chemistry between them heats up. Charlotte and Alex can’t seem to stay away from one another, they love to bicker and banter, and they with a treasure hunt on the go they’re in for an adventure as they both discover that there is more than just treasure their searching for but each other. This was a really sweet read and I adored the chemistry between Charlotte and Alex so much. I think this was definitely an improvement on the first book ( and yes we do get to see the couple from the first book in this one too). A cute read!

The second book in the Mkalis Cycle, following up to The Border Keeper! Returning to the land of Mkalis, we get to see the Tyn navigate the afterschocks of discovering the truths about her former life and her role as guard to the ruler. Tyn must face old enemies and danger like never before as well as make a choice about who she is and who she wants to be. Following the novella this one definitely had a more interesting look at the world as well as a straight forward plot. The action was enjoyable and the characters in this one were fun to read! Tyn was a great protagonist and overall, a wonderful read!

For the life of her she can’t figure out why he dislikes her. When more souls and dangers come into town as well the looming truth of who the person is at the other end of the letter feelings will explode, secrets will come out, and Hart and Mercy will have to re-evaluate everything they thought they knew about the other. Filled with romance, magic, and so much more this was a fantastic read. The letters between Mercy and Hart were absolutely sweet and so heart warming, their romance was so cute. I had a blast reading this book!

Hannah Larson and her son Nicky move from their home in New York to Ashton Hall, an English manor where they will soon find themselves embroiled ina. centuries old mystery. Hannah’s son Nicky is emotionally challenged and has been evaluated for autism, adhd, oppositional defiant hyperacticity and neurodiversity... and no therapy has been working. Hannah has dropped out of her art history schooling and spends most of her time with her son but now she has a part time online job finding art images of manufactured goods. When a relative calls and ask for her to come to Ashton Hall Hannah can’t say no. This is a slow story and focuses on the themes of marriage, motherhood and history with a dash of mystery. It’s definitely an atmospheric read and has tons of detailed descriptions and historical references. I initially went into this thinking this would be a gothic mystery but it definitely headed in a different direction. This one demands you pay close attention and its a pretty hefty read. While this one wasn’t for me I would definitely recommend it for anyone interested in historical fiction and historians!

A new spin on the classic story of the Headless Horseman and Sleepy Hollow. The story follows Katrina “Kat” van Tassel, the descendant of the original Katrina van Tassel. She lives in the town of Sleepy Hollow, constantly living in the cycle and traditions of the original legend. She is expected to marry, stay in the town, and continue the legacy... but she dreams about more. On the 200th anniversary of the Headless Horseman’s legendary haunting of Sleepy Hollow, Kat has had enough. She wants nothing to do with the town’s superstitious celebrations. Her mother gives her the original Katrina’s diary in hopes it will shed more light on who Katrina was and help Kat understand why her legacy was so important... and Kat suddenly meets Isadora Crow. A mysterious new girl in town who shares the similar interest in her, who is beautiful and charming. Isadora challenges Kat’s expectations of what she wants and who she wants to be with. The more Kat reads about Katrina’s life the more she starts to see startling similarities between the two... and the more she begins to question if the past is repeating.. with a spirit being unleashed, a new stranger in town, and a decision to be made about what path she should take, Kat must uncover the two hundred year old secret and find a way to save those she cares about before it’s too late. This story deals with toxic relationships, both Kat and Katrina find themselves being gaslighted, manipulated, and lied to, and they both have to find the strength in themselves to realize it and to get out of it. It was a fun take on the classic story and I definitely enjoyed how the story portrays healthy relationships and toxic ones, and of course I always adore queer representation. This was such a fun spooky little read with splashes of romance and ghosts and perfect for the autumn/halloween season! As a fan of the classic story, I really had fun with this new take!

This is a story about toxic relationships, about abusers who gaslight, emotionally abuse, and try and control you and about healing and opening yourself up to love again. Harriet has been put through the wringer, all the horrible things that have happened to her make me feel for her. Cal was a sweetheart and their relationship was just so sweet. I had a great time reading this book and seeing both Harriet and Cal grow and fall in love.

In the small beach town of Mistletoe, Maine, two people are about to find out that maybe faking a relationship can lead to really falling in love. Since neither of them are looking for a relationship, it should be the perfect idea? Except the more time they spend together the more they start to realize feelings may be blooming between them.
