A curse, dreams, revenge, and romance all packed into a wonderful book. The story is set in a world where the realm is cursed to bring nightmares alive and only magicians who serve as territory wardens can help stop these nightmares. Clementine Madigan has been raised to be the next warden for her small town, and has been working as her father’s partner to train for the position. However all that goes in flames when two magician brothers come and challenge her and her father for their position and win... leaving Clementine and her father homeless and without a position. Clementine vows revenge against these two magicians who had humiliated her and took away everything from her... and when the opportunity lands in her lap Clementine sets in motion her ultimate revenge. Clementine disguises herself as Anna Neven, a rather plan magician, and applies for the job position of being Phelan’s ( one of the young magicians who challenged her father) partner as a warden. She will discover his family secrets and use it to her advantage to make them suffer the same pain they had caused her and her family... except bigger things are at play and a larger curse awaits her. Her own family secrets will be unraveled and it doesn’t help that she is starting to fall for the sweet and caring Phelan despite being the enemy. There is also a strange knight who comes out during the nightmare battles who is bent on killing Phelan. Soon Clementine will have to decide who she sides with and what path she will take, and if revenge is what she truly desires. This was a fantastic read! The journey of Clem and Phelan was great and the whole magic system of nightmare fighting was fun and the overall curse was interesting. I really had a great time reading this and would definitely recommend it!

A girl who survived a near death experience can now see the deaths of everyone she touches and the vampire sent to help her master her abilities find themselves tangled in a web of secrets, lies, betrayal, and maybe even love. Elise Beaumont is cursed to see exactly how her loved ones die, and anyone who comes in contact with her. After the death of her brother she hasn’t been able to get rid of her terrible gift... and then comes along Claire Montgomery. Claire has been a vampire for a while and her only goal in life is to kill the person who made her a vampire. Claire works for a paranormal group who need Elise’s unique gifts to help them maintain peace. Elise is known as a Death Oracle and it is Claire’s job to help get Elise trained.. except things get very complicated when mysterious murders start happening and lies and betrayals start emerging and soon Claire and Elise start questioning if they can even trust one another. This was an interesting read that had action, mystery, romance, and a bit of angst thrown in. The story is told from Claire and Elise’s alternating POVs and you can see the struggles both of these girls go through. Claire just wants to get revenge against the girl who destroyed her life and made her into this and Elise just wants to protect her family and stop seeing death at every corner. This was definitely a unique take on a paranormal romance and I had fun reading it for sure! Definitely pick it up if you are looking for a nice paranormal romance filled with lots of mystery and a splash of murder.

Two people, one night, and the obsession that blooms from it. Aiden is a rockstar, he’s used to people wanting things from him and yet when he meets a beautiful blonde who isn’t the least bit interested in going out with him, he just can’t help but want to go on an adventure with her. Riley has been living with trauma all her life, she is still trying to recover and just get by. When her “friends” ditch her at an auction party without telling her what it is, she soon finds herself being accosted by strangers until the one man she used to be obsessed with comes to her rescue, too bad she outgrew him. Aiden winds the bid for her and offers her an adventure for just one night and Riley can’t just seem to resist. However when their fun night becomes public and things are twisted by the media Riley goes on the run and soon Aiden gives chase. He has to find out why the one girl he was beginning to fall for destroyed his life..., and for the next three years his obsession with her grows. Now finally he’s going to confront her, and yet things are even more complicated between them. Riley is riddled with secrets and now Aiden is coming for them all. This is a twisted love story about a rockstar and a girl on the run. This is definitely an interesting take on the Orpheus and Eurydice myth and it definitely is not for the faint of heart. I enjoyed the first book in the series and this one was good too, though the first one will be my favorite of the two and surprise, there are cameos of our beloved couple from the first book in this one!

Opposites attract, or thats what people say. Ava Chen is sunshine personified, from her happy disposition to her optimism and belief that there is good in everything. Alex Volkov is ice personfied, he’s glacial, cold, basically emotionless, and blunt. Alex is Ava’s older brother’s best friend. When Ava’s brother goes on a trip, he ask him to look after her, especially since he thinks her trusting nature might end up getting her in trouble. Both Ava and Alex suffer from traumatic childhood events that have impacted them to be who they are today. Ava, despite her cheery disposition was nearly killed by her mother when she was younger and suffers a phobia of water and horrible flashbacks of the events... but she is suddenly starting to get more of the memories that she had locked away and things are not as they seem and soon she will be questioning everyone around her. Alex witnessed his family being murdered in front of him and has spent years waiting to exact his revenge against every person involved... except now as he nears the finish line, one more person is about to unveil themselves and it is someone he never saw coming. Ava and Alex have never really liked each other but as they spend more time together they start to see who the other is and start to feel things for one another. But as their past comes back to haunt them, they’ll have to see if they can overcome their demons and if their feelings for one another will enough to endure. This was a great read, especially if you know what exactly you’re going in for ( please do read all the warnings because it will definitely impact whether or not this book is for you).

A hunting competition, an alchemist, and a sharpshooter all converge in this magical story about endurance, growing, and finding a family for yourself. In a small coastal town there is a mysterious hala, the last living mythical creature that wrecks havoc on the town’s crops and people... and the annual hunting competition for it has come once again. With this competition comes the prize of honor, glory, money, and so much more. Margaret Welty is an outcast in her town, and with a famous alchemist mother who is always traveling and a devastating family past, Margaret is just trying to survive day by day. She lives alone in the Welty Manor with her dog Trouble, waiting for her mother to come back, waiting just for some kind of reciprocation of love from her mother who has grown distant after the death of her brother. Weston Winters dreams about becoming an alchemist and becoming a politician in order to support his family after the death of his father. Weston dreams of more, of being more, of having more, but he’s been fired from every apprenticeship he’s landed and his last chance hinges on Master Welty (aka Margaret’s mother). When Weston arrives at the manor to only find Margaret the two strike up a tenuous deal, the hunt requires one person and one alchemist in order to join and they both agree to team up in order to make both their dreams come true. Margaret hopes to win her mother’s affection by killing the hala and Weston dreams of finally winning the apprenticeship and fame he’s dreamed up. Throw in complicated prejudice from the townspeople, a magical creature killing people, and a slow burn romance that just sinks into you and what you get is a beautiful magical story about two people who have endured so much, who care and love so much, but have a hard time showing and saying it, who find that they just might be what the other has always needed. It’s about finding a family who will love you for you and enjoying the quiet peaceful moments. Margaret and Weston are opposites but they come to appreciate and love the different aspects of one another and its really just so endearing. This was a stunning story with a wonderful atmosphere, the perfect read with a cozy cup of coffee on a misty foggy day wrapped up in a blanket.

Both of these men are stuck in a twisted competition for who is the better artist. However one chance encounter with a starving artist by the name of Mara sets into motions a game none of them would have anticipated. Mara is just trying to make it as an artist, but with an abusive family past, no money, and constantly having to scrap by... things take a turn for the worst when one day she is suddenly kidnapped, attacked, and left to die... except she doesnt. Mara survives because she is a survivor and will fight tooth and nail to live. However what Mara doesn’t know is that the person who did this to her did it all for a game.. but who can she trust? Soon Cole becomes obsessed with Mara and her survival, he becomes obsessed with her will to live, and soon they both end up in a twisted relationship... but there is still the matter of Alastor who has also taken an interest in Mara and Cole.. who wants this competition to end with only one of them left alive. This is the first book in the duology and definitely is not for everyone. It’s a anti-hero romance, except these three are all slightly twisted people, some more than others on the spectrum. Do read the warnings before heading into this book. Overall, an interesting read.

Killer vs Killer, who will make it out alive? Picking up where the last book left off, Mara and Cole are now forced to face off against Alastor. They have to kill him before he continues to kill more people. Yet, Alastor’s fixation on Mara becomes more dangerous and Mara’s abusive family past comes back to haunt her. Cole must find a way to fully reveal his secrets while getting her to open up to him and accept the darker parts in herself. The story wraps up well and in the end it was a quick read.

An elf king and a human queen, an arranged marriage, and two kingdoms at stake. Luella is a human who works as the local herbalist for her community, helping her people as best as she can. In this world, every new elf king must take on a human queen (who possess magic) in order to help seal the magic between the lands and protect both worlds. However the newest king has yet to find his queen.... until now. After a secret is unleashed, Luella discovers that she is the human queen that has been awaited for and is whisked away from her duties, from her family, from her life, to fulfill new duties that would protect her people. However this new marriage is not as blissful or as happy, her elf king is cold, rude, and distant. Luella however will not tolerate this, and soon two complete opposites will be warring with one another, but slowly, discovering that the line between hate and love isn’t so clear and that despite all their yelling and bickering, they just might be falling in love. This was a mixture of Hades & Persephone mixed in with Beauty and the Beast and I LOVED IT. I loved how stubborn but sweet Luella was, if you are kind to her she is kind in turn, if you are rude to her, you bet she will give back what she receives. The romance was a slow burn but oh so worth it and I can’t wait to read the next book!

A fae prince, a girl who’s mother sold her hand off in marriage, and the hidden power lurking waiting to be given to the true ruler of the fae kingdom. Katria is the daughter of a merchant who has died... leaving her with her stepmother and stepsisters who treat her more like a servant than an actual person or family member. With the constant partying and the dwindling funds... Katria knows she is about to be sold off into marriage. What she doesn’t expect is that when she is whisked away to her new husband’s home things are about to become strange. Her husband refuses to show himself to her, save but just his shoulder for her to see, but offers her anything she wishes, all the luxuries she could ask for, but she must follow certain rules such as : never go into the woods, never look at him, and never wander into the different wings of the manor at night... yet Katria finds herself breaking all the rules.. and breaking the most important rule,. the one in which she vowed never to fall in love... and begins feeling things for her new mysterious husband. When things take a turn for the worst Katria discovers that her secret husband.... has been hiding more than just his appearance. He is a fae prince... a fae prince who has been trying to awaken the power of the previous kings and claim his birthright at the throne... only to have Katria accidentally come during the ritual and steal the power. Now the clock is ticking as Davien and Katria work to transfer the power, survive assassination attempts, and the very complicated feelings growing between them/ This story was just lovely, it’s a mixture of the Psyche and Eros myth and Cinderella!

In a world where children are given access to magical doorways that lead them to different worlds... only to one day leave those worlds and search for a way back... there is a school for those children who have left their magical worlds hoping to find the doorway to those worlds again. Nancy has come back from her world changed, and her parent’s don’t take to well to her change. She is sent to Eleanor West’s Home for Wayward Children. In this new school she will discover new magical worlds, new people who have experienced the adventure they have, and learn how to maybe possibly one day find her way back to her magical world. However, bodies start dropping, students start getting killed and having body parts taken, and Nancy and her new friends must stop the killer before it’s too late. This was such a magical read, it was lyrical, and captivating, the mystery was interesting and the magic system was unique.
