I really struggled to get through parts of this book due to the intense bullying that took place. I found myself so angry while reading I had to break it up a bit. I will say though that I was warned about that as a trigger warning, so that part is on me but I was determined to try the series with all this hype surrounding it.
The writing itself made me cringe at times, and I found most of the characters outside of the twins to be insufferable. I ended up tandem reading this with the Awakening as Told By the Boys to try and add to nuance to the situation despite the warnings of spoilers for future books. This did work for me. While I still hated the bullying, it made it a little less painful to see what was going on behind the scenes and it was worth it for me to spoil anything because I don't think I could have continued otherwise.
I did enjoy the twins and their strength and refusal to bow down to anyone, and I did like that trait. I felt pretty neutral about the friends they made because we didn't really see much depth given to them.
I will say that the plot of this was addicting, and the world was easy to understand. We weren't overloaded with a bunch of information, and I am intrigued enough to continue the series. I'm looking forward to seeing some character growth and hopefully coming around a bit on the series.

I've been frequently told that the books get better as the series progresses, but I actually preferred the last book to this one. This one I found a little hard to focus on and it didn't keep my attention as much.
I did enjoy getting to learn more about the world and characters. I am also curious to see where some of the storylines go, and it's interesting to see that there are loose threads and I like the idea of an overarching kind of story and not just stand alone novels.
Murphy was also so much less aggravating this book, and I enjoy that and hope to see her character flesh out a bit and I think she could become on I like.

This was a good book with an interesting plot.
The first part of the book was hard for me to get through. I kept losing interest and it felt like it moved really slowly. But once it picked up, I was invested in it.
The complexity of the characters, and their relationships was really enjoyable to read. Seraphina's friendship with the princess was something I really enjoyed, and her relationship with her uncle were probably my two favourite ones to see.
I liked where it ended. While it is open ended for another book, it was a satisfying conclusion. Often books reveal certain secrets right at the end and then you don't know how it resolves, and I was really happy to see the conclusion of this one sorted out some of those secrets.

I enjoyed this book. It was a nice quick read to curl up with on a nice afternoon.
It was really beautiful and easy to read. The writing was a little jarring at times, but I don't hold that against the author because this was translated and I don't have a good idea of how it originally sounded.
A beautiful message, and some amusing moments too. (The cat. Loved the cat.)
Enjoyed this, though I wish we'd got to see a little more at the end.

I found this book to be beautifully written, intriguing and powerful. I had this book on my TBR for awhile, but only felt motivated to read it once it arrived in a subscription box.
I loved the entire concept. Fated lovers to kill each other in every life time? It was a mystery to me. Why? Why would you kill someone you loved, over and over again? As the answers unfolded and things became clear, I was surprised to find out the reason.
The characters themselves fell a little flat to me, but their relationship was amazing. The complexity of it and what it meant to both of them.
It was super neat to get to see different settings as we saw flashes to the other lives. And the fact that they come back differently with no rules for their gender, race or anything like that was also super interesting and it was great representation to read a story where they love each other, no matter what. They loved each other when they were both men, both women, men and women and the details of their physical bodies didn't matter at all. That message was beautiful to me, and the strength of their love.
I'm unsure how I felt about the ending, but I really loved the book overall.

I really enjoyed reading this. I’d never heard of the book before getting it in a subscription box but when I looked up info about it, it sounded like such an interesting concept.
I found it really well done. I often find the pacing is off for enemies to lovers books. It’s either too fast and jarring or it carries on so long that I’m frustrated but the pacing of this one felt perfect to me.
The book itself was fast paced and I enjoyed getting to see a strong sibling relationship as well.
The characters were interesting too. I loved seeing the different POVs and they really gave a lot of depth to the characters.
The writing itself was beautifully done. A lot of amazing lines.
I wish there was more of an ending but I just want answers. Overall a great read.

This book started off really well. I was intrigued and drawn in. There was a lot of characters that we got to meet and the dynamics were interesting. And then the horror starts.
This was fast paced and hard to put down because I just wanted to see what happened and if they got out of the situations.
A quick, fun and easy read.

This was such a fun and quick read for me! It was a different sort of story than I usually read and it was a nice change of pace for me.
I really loved watching the relationship between the main character and her love interest change. The mystery surrounding all of what took place was so intriguing.
I didn’t like the ending so much, but that’s not a reflection of the author’s writing or book. It was well done. I just wanted more answers and closure. I would be all over a sequel if one ever came out.

This book was amazing. I feel so honoured to have received an ARC to read because I am blown away by this book. (Thank you to the publisher and author.)
Firstly, the plot itself was interesting and some of the twists and turns actually caught me off guard. There was a couple plot twists I did not see coming that had me gasp out loud.
The characters themselves are so complex and well-rounded. There is a lot of morally grey characters in this, and I love that so much. They feel so much more real, and I love the complexity of it all.
Patrick was a really great character, and I really enjoyed his POV and getting to know what he was thinking and learning what he had experienced, and what shaped him.
And Nina blew me away. The inner struggle she deals with as she tries to figure out her loyalties and what she really wants felt so emotional, and I felt the tension and anxiety she was going through.
There were some great side characters, but the main characters have my heart in this one. (And that's rare - usually I prefer the side characters.)
Overall a really great read, and one part of getting an ARC that sucks is having to wait even longer for the second book. I cannot wait to read it when it's out!

This book was well-written, but I found it a bit hard to get through because I didn’t like the characters (except the cop) and I was bored.
I think the story itself was intriguing, and a lot of this was beautifully written. But it just wasn’t for me.
