Just didn't vibe with it. I didn't think there was anything wrong, I was just not feeling a connection.

I liked Melody fine, but Liam is insufferable. I can't stand MCs with such heavily ingrained misogyny.

I could not suspend my belief enough for this one, I'm afraid. I don't dislike the fated-mate concept, but it needs to be handled with delicacy in order for it to be palatable. The characters should at least have more depth than a puddle.
Also, I could only think about all the human things mentioned that would not have made sense to aliens or on an alien world - why was their ocean exactly the same as ours, salinity included? How does her alien suitor, who has never been intimate with a human by his own admittance know what a clit is? Relatedly, how does the crown prince of a Pleasure Planet (hello Risa) not know about the trafficking of human women in his domain? Doesn't leave me with a lot of hope for his governance.

This is a lot and I don't think I can handle their mental illnesses with my own right now. 💀

I laughed, I cried. I love Elizabeth Zott.
I also find it incredibly telling that this entire story happened during the Civil Rights Movement era and nary a word was spoken - waving Rosa Park's picture during a montage of Elizabeth's eccentricities on TV is not even scratching the surface. Disappointing, but not surprising.

I wanted to like this one, but Clay was too scattered and Tae was too closed off for me to enjoy their interactions - even when I cast Lee Dong Wook as Tae in my head. Also, I just don't vibe with sunshine characters as the MC - that one's a personal preference, not me casting aspersions on the writing.

I'm just not the audience for this subgenre and I should have guessed it going in - I hate when there's a significant power imbalance between the romantic leads, especially if it's a het romance and the one with lesser power is a woman. What else could a stalker be in this case? I've read some real weird shit, but at least those stories had agency.

I wish I could have said I saw that ending coming but I was Shocked and Appalled at my own oversight.
