I wanted to like this book more than I did. But I felt like at the end I was left with more questions than answers. The Mehar part of the story was good. A little rolls-eyes-worthy at times, but I did enjoy it. And I did enjoy the 1990s bits. But I was left with so many questions about that portion of the book. The author spent so much time of that story on trivial things - describing the farm that we already know about from Mehar's story, talking about painting, the progress on the statue, etc. - that at the end I couldn't say I knew him or his story well.
