This is a solid read. I was a little skeptical going in after a couple of busts in the thriller department. This has a little mystery, a lot of family drama, and the always present communication issues that drive the plot. It’s cozy and comfortable like a favorite sweater. Is it knocking down any doors? Probably not. But it’s a fast-paced read with likable characters that don’t make you cringe. Oh and one minor note, please do not make “concretize” or any of its derivatives a word. Ever.

The main character is awful and not in an appealing way. I couldn’t get past it enough to want to read the rest of the story.

Have you ever read a story so enthralling you’d do anything to crawl through the pages and live there? Fetid and rotting, driven by fear and I would never leave if I didn’t have to. Don’t Let The Forest In is a story so woven with words and art it’s hard to tell which is driving, all you know is that you don’t want it stop. I wanted to devour it whole and beg for more. This is horror academia at its finest. A single sitting read for sure. Don’t Let The Forest In, and don’t stop reading it.

Honestly there is nothing I don’t like about The Stardust Grail! I love that all the non-Earth creatures were not humanoid (looking at you Star Trek), and the presumption to understand any other species’ motivation was absolutely perfect. It was fast paced and exciting, with plenty of character and world building. The twist towards the end was fantastic!

I wanted to like this one but I just couldn’t connect with the characters. I’m all for evil but this one fell flat. Assistant and apprentice to the villain did it so much better. I might come back and try again later.

You might think you see it coming, you might be right, but you won’t be all the way right. You think this would have been a good time to have the next book ready. You didn’t. You regret not thinking ahead. What’s your next move?

I am at a loss for words. Haunting and twisted Vita Nostra plunges you right into Russian dark academia giving you precious little to go on, much like the main character, Sasha. The stakes are high but the ultimate purpose remains a mystery to the reader and the students until 300 pages in.

If you’re looking for a fast read, this isn’t it. With no chapters whatsoever and only 3 section breaks it can feel like a story told in one long breath. This is the strangest book I’ve ever read and I’m still not sure I could tell you if I liked it or not!

I wanted to like this, I did. I just think anthologies are just not for me. These stories were ok but not the type of scary I was looking for. Humanity as horror is reality right now, I need an escape.

What happened when Alice went back to her life after wonderland, and what if she wanted nothing more than to go back?

My only complaint is that it launches you right in with little explanation. So I felt like a little sister trailing after, desperate to catch up and falling short. Rest assured you do catch up and stay immersed in this incredible story of “what comes after”.

What an amazing end to this trilogy! I have no idea what others were griping about. Everything that had been seeded from Scythe came to completion in The Toll. Perfect ending, exactly as it should have been. Loved this series so much!!
