I am at a loss for words. Haunting and twisted Vita Nostra plunges you right into Russian dark academia giving you precious little to go on, much like the main character, Sasha. The stakes are high but the ultimate purpose remains a mystery to the reader and the students until 300 pages in.
If you’re looking for a fast read, this isn’t it. With no chapters whatsoever and only 3 section breaks it can feel like a story told in one long breath. This is the strangest book I’ve ever read and I’m still not sure I could tell you if I liked it or not!
