The very worst thing about this book is that it is exactly what it sounds like: a no-brainer, cotton candy, fluffy romance novel. I think the proper term is “bodice ripper.” All in all, this isn’t a book I would recommend to everyone, but it is a book that I would recommend to romance readers. :-)
The very best thing about this book is that it can really stick with you. I first read this book over a decade ago. Even after my original book was sold at a garage sale (thanks, dad) and I forgot both the title and author’s name, I still remembered this book. Well, I remembered it as a trilogy. When I went book hunting to find it (took me a while, too, considering that all I remembered was “Ginny and Steve”), I discovered that there were six books in a loose series.

The very worst thing about this book is that, because it’s done as a journal, there are missing scenes. Also, you have to pay attention to the date to keep track of the passing of time.
The very best thing about this book is that it reminds me of Anne Frank’s diary. It’s awesome. :-)

The very worst thing about this book is that it is pretty much the first book with different villians.
The very best thing about this book is that, in spite of the same “torn apart by fate, thrown into horrible circumstances, infedelity, and final tenative truce,” it still keep you entertained and interested. Well, it did for me, anyway. :-D

The very worst thing about this book is that it’s scattered. The plot is everywhere and even though the characters are supposed to be much older, they haven’t matured. It’s disappointing.
The very best thing about this book is that, due to the lack of character development, Ginny and Steve are quite familiar and since their age is seldom mentioned you can pretend that they’re still young and will grow into their love. Also, it’s Steve and Ginny. That alone keeps the book at 4.5 stars! :-D

The very worst thing about this book, for me, was that I knew it was supposed to be part of the Ginny and Steve saga, but they werent’ anywhere in the book and I was soo confused! I was constantly stopping to double check websites to make sure that I had the correct book. I’m sure that the stop and go reading in addition to the distraction caused by my confusion took away from some of my reading experience. :-(
The very best thing about this book is that it is entertaining, interesting, and shocking through to the end. :-D

The very worst thing about this book is that the saga of Ginny and Steve is over…
The very best thing about this book is that the saga of Ginny and Steve is over… I love these characters in spite of all their flaws both in who they are (considering that they’re fictional) and how they were written (usually with a lack of development) and I’m glad that they are finally happy. I’m a sap at heart! :-p

The very worst thing about this book is it feels like an afterthought. This book is where you finally realize that “The Giver” and “Gathering Blue” are part of a trilogy and the characters come together in this story. However, it doesn’t seem to fit quite right. It seems to me as though the first book was written as a stand alone novel, but was ambiguous enough at the end that she could tie “Gathering Blue” to it when she decided she wanted to write another book to go with “Gathering Blue.” Was that confusing? O_o
The very best thing about this book is that it’s still as interesting, entertaining, thought provoking, and amazing as the pervious books. Thank goodness for that!! :-D

The very worst thing about this book is Mary Hightower. Don’t get me wrong, as a character and villain, she’s great! I just don’t like her. I really don’t like her!
The very best thing about this book is the detail. Shusterman has thought of just about everything in this amazing tale. It’s astonishing to think of the amount of work he put into this story to make sure everything is just right. Good work, Mr. Shusterman, you have given me a book that I can’t wait to pass on to my future children. ^_^
