My full review is here on my personal website. I'll post a few excerpts here, though:

The very worst thing about this book is that Garth Nix dares to tell us that he doesn’t want to hear if our favorite story is “The Coin Shower.” What was he thinking?!
The very best thing about this book is the variety of stories. They aren’t all Old Kingdom tales, and the one that is wasn’t my favorite – I’m not big on mysteries. My favorites were probably “The Hill” and “Heart’s Desire.” “Lightning Bringer” was interesting, if not a little disturbing and kind of out of place, I think. They’re all great, though! Even “The Coin Shower” in it’s eight-word glory. :-D

I've been told that this series is "classic" children's fantasy, and yet I've never read them before. I don't know why because they are amazing, but I never even heard about them until well outside of my childhood years. Luckily I don't let "intended audience" age ranges stop me from reading something that sounds good.
This was a wonderful fantasy book with just enough terror (for a younger reader) to imprint that fear into your mind while not being so horrifying as to cause nightmares. I love the humor in this book and the characters. Taran the Assistant Pig Keeper is amazing and amusing, and rightfully proud of his title!

I was already crying from "I'll Love You Forever" and this just made me bawl even more! I read this to my niece, also. :-)
After we read this book, Anna insisted that we go check my mailbox. When there was nothing in there (it was Sunday) she said, "Like Pooh's box!"
