This is the second book in a series. I’m disappointed in Lauren Kate because I feel that she didn’t improve as a writer the way most writers do while writing a series.

I gave “Torment” a 1.5 out of 5.0 because of the writing and the continued lack of character development.

The very worst thing about this book is the fact that the writing is worse than in “Fallen.”

The very best thing about this book is the cover. It’s such a shame, too.

This is the first book in a series. Only the first two books are out, but there will be more soon. I will continue to read them because I’m a glutton for punishment. And let’s face it, everyone wants a little cotton candy sometimes, even if it causes brain rot!! I’m also stubborn and I can’t stand to not finish a book or series of books. Even one that I don’t like.

I gave “Fallen” a 2.0 out of 5.0 because I feel that there were some redeeming qualities, even if they were put in place by my own imagination.

The very worst thing about this book is how Daniel and Luce interact with each other. If they’re supposed to be soul mates, they don’t do a very good job of acting like it.

The very best thing about this book is the cover. I really do love the cover, although I can’t say that I remember any part in the book where any of the female characters are dressed in a pretty black dress crying in the middle of the woods. Also, the hair is too long for it to be Luce based on the character description we’re given in the story…

The very worst thing about this book would still be the lack of originality, I think. But if you wanted a new complaint, I would also add that the characters are a bit unbelievable in this book.

The very best thing about this book is still the world. It's not perfect, but it's interesting.

2.5 out of 5.0 stars

The very worst thing about this book is that she continued a story that should have ended where she originally planned.

The very best thing about this book is that the story hasn't ended and there's a possibility that it can better live up to it's potential.

The very worst thing about this book is the change in story-telling. The author chose to leave journal writing to the girls and followed a boy for the second book in the trilogy. Since boys are much less likely to keep journals or diaries, she tells the story from a third-person perspective. It doesn’t take anything away from the story, but I was really looking forward to the entire trilogy being told through journal entries.

The very best thing about this book is the realism. Pfeffer’s writing is just amazing and she brings the story to life without it seeming contrived.

The very worst thing about this book is the way you feel while reading certain scenes. Actually, it’s be a good thing that a book can invoke such emotion – it’s a sign of amazing writing, but I still felt absolutely horrible. So, if the only thing I can complain about is that the feelings are so intense that you would not want to feel them, then you know it’s a fantastic book! Wait — the cliffhanger. I did not like the cliffhanger. *pout*

The very best thing about this book is the return to journal entries and the cast combination, so to speak. Alex, Miranda, and their respective groups all meet up and for one big group.

I reread this book in preparation of finally reading [b:Reached|13125947|Reached (Matched, #3)|Ally Condie|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1330717582s/13125947.jpg|14449480], the last book. This book surprisingly held up fairly well on a reread - enough for me to give it the same rating. I still think Condie drew a bit much on the Giver, but I still think it works fairly well. This is a book that I both have recommended and will recommend to people who are enjoying dystopian and soft-dystopian fiction.

The very worst thing about this book was just it’s misfortune to be read immediately after I finished “Bumped.” The two books had the same basic theme of a virus damaging young people… Also, it’s possible that I’m forgetting a detail or simply missed it, but I don’t remember there being an explanation of why North America is the only continent left on the planet. O_o

The very best thing about this book is the virus in this book actually kills the people at twenty and twenty-five years of age for girls and boys respectively. There isn’t a real reason why, but the book is certainly interesting. I think I have a soft spot for dystopian books – even the “soft” ones. I’m really looking forward to the next book which is due out next February. Long wait. *cry*

The very worst thing about this book is the historical inaccuracies. There are some things that are iffy and others that make very little sense based on the time they were living. If you think you know every detail about this point in history, then I would advise you to not read this. For everyone else, it’s a historical romance with political intrigue and based on real people you’ve already heard about.

The very best thing about this book is the story. If the mistakes in history don’t bother you (they didn’t bug me too much) then this story is fantastic! I loved it! Reading through the way Katherine felt as she was shuffled around, ignored, mistreated, cheated on, lied to, and everything else is fascinating!

The very worst thing about this book is the inaccuracies, again. The entire series suffers from these, but they’re not too annoying unless you’re a stickler for historical details.

The very best thing about this book is the insanity! Really, this story was crazy, but it was the good crazy and I liked it. You have implications of a gay sex circle, incest, and sisters competing for one guy with their family encouraging it. Like I said, crazy.
