The very worst thing about this book is the bouncing narrative. We switch from one woman to the other constantly and it gets confusing. Especially when the characters begin to interact with each other more. You have to take a step back and remember who the narrator is at times.
The very best thing about this book is Anne of Cleves. I really like the way her character is portrayed. Other than Katherine of Aragorn, it seems like she’s the first character to be a decent human being who isn’t obsessed with intrigue and whatnot.

The very worst thing about this book is that it doesn’t seem possible that one girl can just flit back and forth between enemies with so few consequences. Also, she’s psychic and sees angels? Eh…
The very best thing about this book is that we get a completely different point of view in this book. The previous books were typically narrated by people who have been inside a royal court for most of their lives. This book is narrated by a young Jewish girl, new to the country, and masquerading as a boy. It is unusual, to say the least.

The very worst thing about this book is the way Elizabeth acts. She flip flops so quickly from being a leader to a wishy-washy weakling; it’s annoying to say the least. Of course, this could be an accurate description of her behavior while ruling.
The very best thing about this book is the romance between Elizabeth and Dudley. It’s wrong, it’s against all the rules, but it seems somewhat genuine and you can imagine a happily ever after for them if they had been born peasants. I won’t lie, because I know very little about this time in history, I was rooting for their happy ending.

The very worst thing about this book is the changing perspectives. It’s narrated by three people and it’s so frustrating to read and remember who is speaking at any given time. Also, Bess ticks me off. She comes across as a materialistic harpy and even when her husband is mooning over another woman in their home, I can’t feel sorry for her.
The very best thing about this book is the story in general. When you’re able to remember who is narrating, the story is fantastic and it’s even somewhat worth the headache you’ll get from the narrators changing so often!

The very worst thing about this book is that this is the end.
The very best thing about this book is Bracken! And his true identity. ^_^ I can’t give anything away, and not because it would ruin the story, but because it would be cruel to deprive a first time reader of the suspense and excitement! :-D
Happy reading, this series was well worth it! o_O

The very worst thing about this book is probably the cliffhanger ending. I’m not a big fan of cliffhangers — even in a series.
The very best thing about this book is the natural and realistic way the conversations and dialogue are written.

The very best thing about this book is the way Mull writes conversations. They come across, usually, as very realistic. Well, assuming you aren’t taking into account the content! :-p

The very worst thing about this book is that Seth still is dashing off into trouble. True, he thinks things through a little better this time, but he still isn’t listening to his elders… It’s a bit frustrating that one of the messages seems to be that “as long as you can justify it and it turns out okay, you can break the rules.”
The very best thing about this book is Gavin. This was completely unexpected for me, although Raxtus’s big part felt a little rushed.

The very worst thing about this book is that some scenes are a bit more rushed than I would like.
The very best thing about this book is Patton and Lena. I can’t say more due to potential spoilers, though.

The very worst thing about this book is pretty much everything. Little miss genius gets kidnapped, loses her memory, and upon returning home (with no memory of the previous five months) promptly sneaks out knowing that her kidnapper is still loose. *sigh* I weep for my lost braincells. Rest in peace, little guys! I miss you!
The very best thing about this book is this quote:
“Suicide,” Vee told her. “You know, when you put a little shot of everything into the glass?”
