If The Cruel Prince took place in Bridgerton, crossed with Once Upon a Broken Heart. Very YA, loved it. Only real drawbacks are a little insta love and a very naive FMC but I still love her.

I hate that I have to wait for the final book 😭 I love the lore of the Kindred and the characters are so good. Dying to know how it all ends!

Really excited about this series - so far so good. I love that the story isn't rushed and I hope it continues as a slow burn. Super interesting world and interesting characters and subplots!

A very emotional read - Hendrix did an amazing job of writing from a women's perspective, and I think really honored the horrifying history of the big scoop of the 60s. The girls were manipulated, had their choices and all truth held from them, and so they found power in each other and in their pain. As angry as some parts made me, other parts were so simply beautiful. Though the birthing scenes are blunt and scary as a child bearing aged woman, the real upsetting scenes were those where the girls were being controlled, lied to, dismissed. The contrast between Ferns hospital birthing and Holly's home birth was so stark and painful. Fern may not have felt the actual birth in the end, but I would take Holly's experience every time. Honestly such a great read.

A riveting premise, but I found the middle drawn out and the end rushed. However I love Harrison's portrayal of female relationships so it was still good - in her later novels she's really gotten into a groove of pacing that she just didn't quite have here.

Love Harrison's unique brand of feminist horror. I can absolutely relate to not knowing your body and feeling like you don't have control or ownership of it. The knowledge that you can't seem crazy because crazy women are ignored, at best.
Plus the romance was super cute and lightened the story just enough. I also really like how Harrison writes family dynamics.

So so good. Harrison always does a great job of balancing humor with serious topics through the horror lens. This one might just be my favorite of hers - she does a great job of diving into the fear, alienation, and intense horror of being labelled the 'crazy woman'.

Painfully relatable for someone with anxiety. So funny and well written - a really impressive debut. Bonus points for being in my province 🍁
