Enjoyed this one in the end, was a very slow starter for me and took me ages to really warm up to the characters (or care) but in the end it was worth it.
I found parts of it frustrating, like the bits written about British people, it was very American, and I dunno didn't really ring true to me. Nothing major but like it was a bit off putting in parts, especially as one of the characters lives in London. 🤣
Anyway, a story about sisters dealing with being sisters and also losing a sibling, and addiction and motherhood, and familial issues that come with having an alcoholic parent.
I did also find the bits about their dad a bit hard, as it all felt a bit surface level and clean? He was a violent alcoholic who smashes up the house but never hurts the people around him...
Anyway, in the end I let this stuff go and enjoyed it for what it was, and I think mostly it's a good book.

Enjoyed this, liked the narration and the mix of pov interviews and her daughter's perspective.
All very interesting.

Solid book, I found parts of it a bit like Emily was writing her feelings re covid-19/station eleven but other than that, I like the way she once again weaves the story together and you're never really fully sure where it is going.

Absolutely loved this one, following interconnected people mainly focused on a group of octopi who a scientists are trying to work out if they can communicate, and also if it's possible for humans to speak with them.
Its like a book about aliens but who are from the deep.
There is also a lot of commentary about how humans are bleeding the earth dry.
I thought it was an interesting look at a not totally dystopian future. Things are definitely sideways.

So this books been out for 10 years and I've avoided it thus far as I thought tbh it would not be my cup of tea. I've had many pals suggest I read it, booktubers and booktokers alike have raved about it, and the more hype I heard, the less I wanted to read it.
Finally I joined a book club in January and this is the 3rd book of the year, it's irl and trying to explain my absolute distrust of this book to normal non-Internet women who read one book a month was beyond me.
Also My boyfriend read the book and said it wasn't that bad, so I've given it a go.
It wasn't as bad as thought it was gonna be but it made me cringe and I found Feyre to be a bit of a whinging mood hoover, like, she could of got a lot more done a lot less messily if she'd paid attention and stopped hating every new character she met.
Christ.
Whatever, 3.75/5 it was not the worst thing I've read.
Can't say I'm itching to read the next 5 books.

This is a good follow up to the salt path, though I found the first half a little self indulgent and slow, once she was talking about the walk in Iceland it was interesting again.
Made me chuckle in parts and was interesting to learn about Iceland.
Reckon this would be another good book club book, lots to chat about, as long as you can get over the first half.

I enjoyed this short audio book, I randomly downloaded from the library, it was very sad, but good.
It really represented the feeling of being lost in your own life and how your jobs and relationships can really drag you into a spiral.
Otherworldly.

Such a clever book, though long worth every moment and the footnotes though epic give the book such depth that it almost feels that this is a history book and that English magic is real.
A very cool book.

I enjoyed this, it was a good story about the one the got away and the regrets of choices we make as young people and the consequences you then face as you grow up!
There is a lot of trauma here, but it's handled (mostly) well, though I'd have liked a little less info on some of it.
