listen, i’m here to tell you i support women’s right and women’s wrongs. if she can get away with murdering men who have done atrocious things… 🫢
trigger warnings abound here but tbh it was a little cathartic to read these revenge plots being carried out against the scum of the earth. and that twist in the middle?! HOLY MOLY OKAY!!!
phew, i was hooked, it’s dark, it’s not for the faint of heart, but it’s a helluva read 🔪🩸

working on trying to read through my unread @bookofthemonth books brought me to this one that i remembered @hannahbrencher loving, and it was a WILD RIDE. i was seriously spooked and on the edge of my seat for the first time part, then totally mystified and mind blown by the middle, and completely engrossed in the unraveling of the story as it played out toward the end! so many twists, great layers, bizarre characters and storylines, and a really captivating read overall. it gave me similar vibes to the grace year (which i LOVED) and even had some louise penny nods too!
three women, one tech CEO, one tangled web of stories and lives and careers that unfolds in three parts. this one felt so timely in the era of shady dudes getting away with crap on the backs of women who deserved the credit, and while i can’t really say i ENJOYED it (because it’s not really a fun read), i was intrigued by the characters and curious to see how all the chaos would come out in the end. the ending ultimately felt way too abrupt for me, but the epilogue made up for it a bit, and i landed on a solid ⭐️⭐️⭐️ for this one!
fans of boy bands and broadway musicals will be into this one— it gave me (weirdly) grown-up camp rock or high school musical vibes kinda? on paper, i should have been super into it, but it just didn’t do it for me. i think this author just isn’t my vibe because i felt this way about her first book too… it’s me, hi, i’m the problem!!!
i think i just never really bought the chemistry between cal and katee??
anywho, second chance romance fans who love celebs and summer camps and theater kids-turned-adults, this one’s for you!

you KNOW how i feel about boys with j names… but i’m willing to make an exception for josh in this book. he won me over!!! the way this story unfolds over time with two verrrrry different people meeting and hating each other but continuing to connect in odd ways over the years, clashing most of the time, eventually catching feelings (but messily, of course), had me in deep. apparently it has “when harry met sally” inspo buuuuut ya girl hasn’t seen it (don’t come for me).
it feels real and it’s funny and it’s sexy and cringey and relatable and snarky and a really great read.

yall have been RAVING about this one and you knowwww that usually makes me be like 🙅🏼♀️🙅🏼♀️🙅🏼♀️ since i didn’t get to it first but i gave in to the hype and IT WAS WORTH IT. i absolutely loved this one.
rival journalists (my girl iris gave me scrappy, badass jo march vibes!). a war between gods. magical typewriters that connected whoever wrote on them to each other. so many layers, beautifully told, touches of other stories that were familiar but in new ways. it’s swoon-worthy and emotional and had me so deeply engrossed in a way i haven’t been in a book for a WHILE.
i cannot wait to read the sequel— this will be a favorite of this year for sure!

you could sayyyy i’m ready for fall reads and spooky szn… 🦇🩸🗝️
this was a fun fall read for SURE. (definitely has me inspired to make a themed reading guide!) it has all the cute tropes of forced proximity and “they were roommates!” with added layers of the paranormal (perfect for you twilight fans, but done SO MUCH BETTER). they communicate via notes on the kitchen table (swoon), she helps him learn how to live in this century (adorable), he has an arranged engagement that comes back to haunt him (kind of literally), he has an off-limits room that’s for the most surprising reason… it just has such fun bones and made for a great evening of entertainment!

first ever horror book: ✅
i heard about this one on a a zoom influencer event with @berkleypub and the author sold it SO WELL that i was like “welp, guess i’m reading horror now!!!” she even DMed me to tell me she didn’t think it was that scary so i should be fine…
and i actually was! the plot twisted in ways i did NOT see coming (let’s just say the devout religious community is worshiping less of a heavenly being and more of… hellish one) and i actually learned a lot about a people group and way of believing that had previously been so unknown to me! (my little exvangelical self kept feeling like i was going to get in trouble for reading a book about satanists hahaha)
i almost wish this book DID scare me a little more, because i’m not quite sure what it is that classifies it as horror, except for all the satan stuff? i mean, that probably does it…
the plot got a bit unbelievably wild for me towards the end and felt more on the cheesy/too dramatic side for me to fully immerse myself in it, but overall, i’m glad i took a chance on this one and tried something out of my genre comfort zone!
