I think I feel exactly the same way about this sequel that I did about Divine Rivals, which is probably a good thing. Consistency, right? I think that if you liked book 1 and you love the main couple you'll like the sequel. But, if you thought it was just average, don't bother finishing out the duology because I promise you it is not worth your time.

I'm not quite sure what to say, honestly. I liked it well enough? I didn't dislike the characters I was meant to like? It was a good book and I enjoyed it for what it was. If this was more than a duology, I wouldn't continue the story, but because it's a shorter story, I'm going to see it through.

Brandon Sanderson, if you ever read this, I just want to say thank you. This book genuinely made me laugh and I really really needed that. So, thank you for that.

The oldest stories said Mariposa began with a song, and like all songs, it would end with silence.
I am once again begging for a book about Christopher and the Skeleton Girl 🙏🥹

“But where do we find a monster?” asked Moon. “I’ve been here my whole life, and I’ve never seen one. Only different kinds of people. No monsters.”
Honestly, this story didn't really do much for me, but I do still appreciate that it exists.

“The Moors spin on stories, and this is a classic one: the formerly dead maiden and the mad scientist’s beautiful daughter.”
A completely unnecessary short story but it was cool to see a bit of Dr Bleak's pov in there I guess 🤷♀️

I've never felt so blue balled than when I first thought this book was going to completely take place in a dinosaur world. I definitely enjoyed this book more than my first read and I can only assume that I'll go on to enjoy it more and more on every future reread like I have with every other book in the series (yes, even the horse girl one).

I'm not quite sure what I think of this one yet. I enjoyed this one for what it was but the cover really made me think I was going to get more dinosaurs than I actually did. I'm really glad we got this extra piece to Antsy's story since I definitely needed more closure. But, selfishly I really wish that SM would have saved the dinosaur world for its own book since I really loved the time we did get to spend in that world.
my ranking so far:
1. Where the Drowned Girls Go ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
2. In An Absent Dream ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
3. Down Among the Sticks and Bones ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5
4. Lost in the Moment and Found ⭐⭐⭐⭐
5. Every Heart A Doorway ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5
6. Beneath the Sugar Sky ⭐⭐⭐⭐
7. Come Tumbling Down ⭐⭐⭐⭐
8. Mislaid in Parts Half-Known ⭐⭐⭐.5
9. Across the Green Grass Fields ⭐⭐⭐.25

“The great tale of her being shall be extended no more; she is gone to the Library where all of us must one day be Returned, and she will pay no overdue fines on her soul.”
I have decided this book is in fact a horror. The absolute and profound horror of running from abuse only to run into the hands of someone who will also abuse you and manipulate you, only not so obviously. I've always found this book incredibly difficult to read, but I think this was truly the first time I've fully understood the weight and real meaning of Antsy's story.

Not at all what I was expecting and the first few chapters were so scary and hard to read, but this really was a fantastic read! Shocking absolutely no one, this is a new favourite of mine!
