It's not a 3 stars but it's not a 3.5 either??? if that makes sense?? I enjoyed being back with Sadie and Carter and I really like the new characters, but it still feels like there's something missing from this series! I'm definitely excited to see what happens in the finale though, the Kanes have really grown on me over the last couple of weeks.

This was genuinely awful but I kind of want to read book 2.

TW: physical abuse, parental abuse, alcoholism, talk of violence, talk of rape (in jesting), use of word f*ggot, use of r word (more than once), drugs, drug overdose, murder

I definitely prefer the first book but it was fun to be back with Meg, Charles Wallace and Calvin so I'm sure I'll be reading book 3 sooner or later!

I just needed to feel a little but of joy today and as always, A Wrinkle in Time had me smiling from the very first page.

“It was a dark and stormy night.”
I can't quite explain the calm that comes over me every time I press play on this audiobook.

#Stay Home Reading Rush Day One: Read a book that will make you smile

“There will no longer be so many pleasant things to look at if responsible people do not do something about the unpleasant ones.”

This is such a strange story but I love it so so much! It's such a perfect representation of what it's like to be "different" as a child, it talks about how complicated family is and how complicated and confusing sibling relationships can be too. Also, it shines a light on friendship too??? It does so much in such a short time and it does it so well! Highly recommend for fans of The Giver and The Wayward Children series!

Okay, so this might actually be my favourite manga series so far. I can't wait to see how the characters develop throughout the series!

I could absolutely 100% do without the teenage girl nudity, but other than that, this was so good and so nostalgic for me! I will definitely be continuing the series!

This was so much fun! But, I'm already biased because I love the anime and already knew the characters & plot! This is really weird and stars some great friendships, so I highly recommend it (and if you don't want to go to the trouble of buying/borrowing the manga, I strongly recommend checking out the anime, it's a lot of fun!)

I am so so glad I found the time to re-read this! I love this book and the family Vin makes. I'm not entirely convinced that I shouldn't pick this up again and re-read it tomorrow!

Finally some back story! This is everything I wanted from vol 0!
The colouring is amazing and reminds me a lot of Into The Spider-Verse (2018) which I love and I'm finally getting used to the art style. I am really hoping I'll end up loving this series, but I'm not sure! There's a lot of angst and I don't know if I can handle it tbh.

(This comic loses points for how confusing it is though, I had a lot of trouble keeping track of who was who and in general, trying to figure out who different characters were meant to be. I haven't read every Marvel comic ever, so a few pages definitely went over my head.)

Reading this after Sunrise gives a whole new view on Haymitch's nickname for Katniss and I'm going to need to go and cry about that now.

Buddy Read with Rebecca

I'm amazed at how brilliant this book is! I wasn't sure if this was going to live up to the hype and nostalgia I'd built up in my head, but I actually think it surpassed it! I got so much more out of this now than I ever did when I first read the series and wow, I can't wait to read book 2 to find out what happens next!

"Life will show you where you're needed most."
What if Gwen Stacey was bitten by the radioactive spider? Not Peter Parker.

I loved the colouring, and in general, I'm a big Gwen Stacy fan but damn, there was a lot of angst in this comic! I know this is a Spider-Verse story and the Spider-people always come with an extra side of angst and grief, but damn, I needed a break 3 pages in!

I loved this, but I can't say that I understood everything.
I read Spider-Verse prior to this earlier in the year so I understood everything plot wise on that front. I didn't understand the stuff with Matt Murdoch though, isn't he meant to be the good guy?
