This was absolutely not the book for me, if a friend hadn't challenged me to read it I really would've DNF'd it a few chapters in. My main take away from this book is that I don't like the writing and Jasmine needs a therapist, not a boyfriend.

I usually save 2-star ratings for books with problematic content, which wasn't this book at all. Honestly, this was just underwhelming and if I'm honest, boring. The premise for this sounded really interesting and I've been meaning to try Ishiguro's books for years and I really regret starting here. This felt like it had real potential to be a really in-depth look into illness, parenting, AI and environmental issues but everything about Klara fell short 😩

I just know that after a week I'm going to completely forget that I ever even read this and I'm completely okay with that. This book felt like underwritten trauma just for trauma's sake and sometimes I can get on board with that but it just didn't vibe with me here. This was too long, too underwritten and just so uninteresting? I can handle underwritten characters, but there has to be something to make me keep reading and, honestly if I wasn't reading this for a blog challenge, I would've DNF'd it, or, more honestly I never would have picked it up. I'm sure this book is a lot of other people's cup of tea but I just never got into it.

Okay, so this story is completely compelling but the writing feels too stunted for me, and the dialogue always feels off and well... written, not like something someone would actually say. This is such an interesting story but the actual characters and the writing are letting it down from being the best it could be.

Oh my god okay that ending hit me HARD. I loved the characters and learning about Yadriel's family and culture and I also loved how by the end of the book I was ride or die for Julian too. I will 100% be reading more from Aiden Thomas in the future!

I think I'm finally starting to enjoy this series properly! We're finally getting to know Lana a bit more (her past is gruesome and traumatising but at least we're learning about why she is who she is), I just wish we were learning equally about Logan.

I'm still stuck on how this would make such a perfect criminal minds episode, but because it reads as an unedited fanfic and I just can't get 100% on board with it. I think I would enjoy this more if we actually learn anything about the main characters Lana and Logan. I feel like we'll slowly learn about her but we know literally nothing about him except for his name, and honestly sometimes I even forget that.

No idea why past me was in love with Flynn but okay 😂. Honestly, the best thing about this book is the Tarver & Lilac cameo. This isn't bad, it just doesn't compare to book one to me. I am super hyped for book 3 though, because there wasn't anything wrong with this, I just didn't enjoy it as much as I'd hoped I would.

Not my favourite of Quinn's books but maybe the most mature couple yet, which I actually really enjoyed. It was a breath of fresh air to not be constantly rolling my eyes while reading. I really do enjoy this series and I can't wait for book 4.
