I found this book delightful! It had funny moments and heartwarming moments, and something about a story of people falling back in love was just magical. It felt a bit rushed in places, but the enjoyment I got out of this book outweighed that!

This was my first Emily Henry, and a reread. I liked most of the book. The characters were good for YA, the situation was interesting, and the writing was beautiful. It had some great moments on grief that really struck me. But then the ending. The first time I read this I was confused, so this time I purposely slowed down…and it still confused me. It just never felt clear enough for me what was happening. And I found the second to last line just pandering as well. But overall it was enjoyable, although I prefer Emily Henry’s adult books more. 

This was way too simple to me. The main character just made really terrible choices, and the mystery wasn't compelling enough for me. I can see my student's enjoying this, though.

 This book took me a lot longer than I anticipated to finish, but I’m really glad I stuck with it. It was a refreshing and eye-opening book and had a lot of really beautiful and poignant observations about America. That was one of the most interesting parts, reading about America from the perspective of a non-American. I loved the storytelling and the commentary, with really great characters in Ifemelu and Obinze. Very enjoyable, even if it wasn’t very fast paced. 

A delightful story all around! It was fun, it was cute, and had some great moments. My only complaint is that the baking show storyline felt basically useless; the royal wedding storyline was detailed and compelling enough that it wasn’t needed! However, I loved that there wasn’t an eleventh hour conflict that tore Dominic and Sylvia apart. They had a beautiful relationship from start to finish, and I can’t wait for the sequel!

I read this for a class, and I’m really glad I did. It’s beautiful and heartbreaking, and brings awareness to an important issue with Indigenous women. It’s a short read but really worth it. 

This book was just a delight. It was funny, it was emotional, it was sweet! I love not only a retelling, but one set in a fictional dating show is just perfect. I can’t wait for the others in this series!

I love retellings, so I was really excited about this book. But, as I read it, the parts I loved the most were when it diverged from its source material. There were as many Shakespeare references as Austen plot moments, so it didn’t feel like a full Pride and Prejudice retelling. However, that isn’t really a knock on this book. The characters were great, and I loved their chemistry and their growth. I almost want a sequel because I loved them so much! Very much worth the read. 

This was my first Nordic noir, and I feel like it was a good example of the genre, from what I’ve seen. I liked the mystery overall, but there were a lot of twists that I didn’t see as necessary. There wasn’t a lot of depth to the characters, although that wasn’t super necessary. I might pick up the next in the series if I can find it!

Schitts Creek is my favorite show, and Alexis Rose is my favorite character, so this book is the perfect fit for me! I loved this story. The characters were real and flawed and their growth was so worth it. And Brendan is the prime example of how swoon-worthy a man written by a woman is!
