A journey to California isn't as easy as it sounds. Lee's adventure from Georgia to California is one I'll never forget, set against a colorful backdrop of rural countryside, scorching desert, and lush greenery. I enjoyed Lee and her traveling companions as they try to survive through the environment and each other.

I need to know what happens to Lee and her companions in the sequel *runs to the bookstore*

I definitely recommend this novel if you love historical fiction and are patient with the slow progression of the journey. Things do happen (a lot of things happen) that will leave you speechless, sad, and hopeful.

A delightfully, fresh read! Fans who love Greek mythology are sure to fall head over heels in love with this fresh concept created by Hart.

Being a god can be perpetually boring when you live for centuries. It is why they enacted a game, where humans are their players and love is the ultimate goal. Aphrodite, being the goddess of love has not lost a game in over 3 thousand years. Apollo is the first god up to take the challenge, hoping against all odds that he wins. With the power of prophecy, he just might.

Lex is Aphrodite’s chosen player, while Dean is Apollo’s. Both are broken and fragile human beings, unable to fully let go and feel love. Let’s just say that it was fate these two would meet and become Aphrodite’s and Apollo’s human pawns in an epic love match game.

I thought that this was a wonderful, fresh, and easy read! I really liked the twist that Hart brought to the table concerning Greek mythology. For example, I loved their nicknames such as Dita (Aphrodite), Perry, (Persephone), and Heff (Hephaestus). I thought that was widely original and gave off the aura of a modern twist. Oh! I also would love to mention all the modern lingo (?) integrated into the story. It was truly a creative and imaginative twist!

I really liked the characters! They all had charismatic personalities and I couldn’t help but like them all. I liked how Perry and Hades actually liked each other, rather than hate one another as some myths go. I guess Perry grew to love Hades and that’s well, great! I’m a sucker for happy endings! But oh, don’t think this story is about them. It’s not. I just like to think about what could have happened to have made her have a change of heart.

There are hundreds of baggage for Aphrodite and Apollo. The main one is a never ending feud between the two. Aphrodite hates Apollo for killing her one and true love, Adonis. While, Apollo is grief stricken for the girl he lost due to an enraged father. Their pain and heartbreak is palpable and I couldn’t help but feel sad for them. The game is taken very seriously and it’s all Apollo has in hope to garner a stone from Aphrodite so that he may get the love of his life back.

I also really loved Lex and Dean. Their story – actually, the story is told from their perspective at some point. I really liked this affect as I got to see where Lex and Dean were coming from, not to mention Aphrodite and Apollo. It gave me an in depth insight to their action and thoughts, which I liked seeing. – Back to Lex and Dean…I really liked their internal battles. Their minds and hearts are constantly at war, trying to decide what is the right thing to do when it concerns their feelings for one another. Lex doesn’t want to be vulnerable and by being with Dean she may become that. Dean doesn’t want to ruin their chances of his band breaking up due to sleeping with a band member’s girlfriend.

The only negative that I saw from the constant switching of perspective told from a 3rd p.o.v. was those side character perspectives that to me were irrelevant at times. But other than that, I thought that the choice of choosing that writing style for the story was a good choice.

Complicated stuff here ^^

The ending is pretty surprising and I am happy to say that I didn’t entirely see it coming.

I liked this book. It was a delightfully, fresh read! Fans who love Greek mythology are sure to fall head over heels in love with this fresh concept created by Hart. I’ve always been interested in Greek mythology, and I thought this was a really nice read! I breezed right through it, liking the gradual pace of the story itself. Only a few things caught my attention that I thought could have been better such as the Telling vs. Showing writing and the occasional grammatical errors throughout the novel. But in all honesty, I thought this book was pretty darn good! I’d definitely recommend to those who are 18+ because of the sexual content within the pages.

Plus, the book is FREE currently on Amazon! What’s there to lose? Remember if you do read it, leave feedback no matter how big or small :)

DIH is a light, fun read that will keep you laughing, tug at your heartstrings, and maybe make you change your panties. It’s steamy and sweary, a lighthearted romance with a Greek mythology twist.

I found it incredibly slow with a plot that didn't go anywhere. Banter was okay. Characters were good but forgettable.

A beautiful life written in raw and poignant verse. Woodson lets us delve into significant and personal memories that bring heartache and warmth. It's a story of a little girl who discovers her gift while struggling with the very words she loves to use to create. It's a story about family and love. It's a story about creating your own world.
