alright i guess. didn’t really hold my attention throughout but definitely had an interesting plot line

great spookieookie gave me chills from the first ten pages

the, most middle-age person book I’ve ever read and I mean that in the worst way, I don’t really care to be living in an amelie wanna be doesn’t even compare to amelie actually. wouldn’t recommend just felt like the whole story was so contrived and there is no actual chemistry or connection between any of the characters. I just felt like I was reading someone’s attempt at writing a romance book.

i was not the target audience for this book but i was also exactly the target audience for this book. snl fan fiction romance was so beautiful and fun and effortless. weird friends with benefits covid hookup fall in love over emails was cringe and made me feel terrible and like i was reliving the worst years of my life. the writing got so much worse as the book progressed but the first half was actually so enthralling and lovely to me

good but i would read Things They Lost in the Fire over this any day. seemed like similar books but the stories in this collection seemed less heartfelt and more rooted in ideology. the art of the story was overshadowed by Telling and a lack of fantasy and showing

sweet book definitely would not recommend the audio book though. it felt like sections were just passing by and i wasn’t able to stop and reflect as much as if it were written words on a page. kind of cheesy and privileged white man talk and a few sentiments just blatantly from other works but wholesome in the end

Great little creepy sinewy horror book. I haven't read something that gripped me this closely for a good bit. I loved the family dynamics, the inner monologue of characters, the subversion of normal horror themes and tropes. The only thing that seemed contrived was the main plot conflict with the Duvalls. I never understood why these individuals had such an integral part in this story. If that was fleshed out more or had more significance than selling out the house to tourists, I could give this a five star rating.

great conversation with lolita from a feminist and modern perspective. i loved the nuance of abuse depicted and the portrayal of manipulation on a developing mind. there were times i had to put the book down and walk away with my mouth Open but it was such a rewarding read at the end. i think it misses some of the lyricism and poetry of lolita but it is valid as this comes from the perspective of the child and not the deluded abuser. all in all i loved! i wish i could read it again with no memory

this is a crazy book but if it helps it helps

no real connection when i felt like i should have loved this
