I didn't feel connected to the story and had a hard time staying focused on it. I felt like I had missed things by the halfway point because I couldn't commit my attention while reading. I might try it again in a different format, but for now I'm calling it quits.

Amnesty was definitely my favourite story of the collection, but of the original published stories, The Evening and the Morning and the Night was the most compelling, closely followed by Speech Sounds. 

I definitely enjoyed the mix of both stories and essays within this collection, as it helped to give a change of pace and drive the momentum of the book. The addition of afterwords for each entry was also nice with its added context of how the story was conceptualized.

Not interested in reading at this time. My long Currently Reading is giving me anxiety.

The plot sagged a little bit in the middle, but then it raced through to the end. The atmosphere and world building were stellar. I felt like the main characters could have used a bit more personality/backstory, but I do understand why plot execution somewhat took precedent over this. Overall a lovely read.
