The plot and storyline sucked. The art is still fantastic, in fact, some of my favorite art I’ve seen in a graphic novel, but these characters felt very OOC and the storyline was so rushed and pretty nonexistent. Still excited to read the next book though because I love the bat family

I liked this a lot less than the other issues in this series. I found a lot of this volume just lacking unfortunately.

I love mcu Wanda, but I also love marvel comics so I’m trying to get into comic Wanda (which is pretty difficult bc of how many teamups the Scarlet Witch us involved in). But this was a pretty good starting point for Wanda if you’re confused on where to start.

This gives a history on the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilvers backstory, wrapping up some of the major events from Pietro and Wanda’s past and going into Magneto being their father (who’s a dilf in every media btw). I’m really glad I started here, but because this is only one issue, I felt I didn’t really get enough content for either of these characters to full dive into the story. But regardless, I’m still happy I started here. Everything made sense and I didn’t have to have prior knowledge for Wanda or Pietro’s characters.

I haven’t read many older style comic books, and I think this is one of of the worst introductions I could have had to them. The plot for this was almost nonexistent. There isn’t even a point for this really to exist. The only issue that was worth reading was issue #4 which dealt with the complicated family dynamics between Wanda, Pietro, & Erik (Magneto). I love reading about those three (no matter how toxic they are), so I really enjoyed my time spent with that.

But everything else was almost unreadable. I could barely get through issue #2 and I slogged my way through the other two. The sexism, the narration, Vison. I just could not stand a single bit of any of this.

*3.5

Ok, so I think I might be the outlier on this one, but I was kinda bored throughout this. Issue 2 was really intriguing, and my rating bumped a .5 star because of issue 7. But I wasn’t really feeling this overall. Maybe I need a break from Captain America. That’s all I’ve been reading for two weeks now lol

*2.5

So, I know I’m gonna offend a lot of people with this rating, and I a guess I’m sorry? I’ve been really really into Batman and the batfamily lately. The Batman movie that came out this year was an eye opener for the hidden DC stan within, and since watching that movie, I’ve been watching a lot of DC content. And with that, I’ve been meaning to start DC comics. So officially, this is the first Batman comic I’ve ever read.

Unfortunately I don’t have many positive feelings about this one. I didn’t have many feelings about the art style, and I found the text to be confusing sometimes. The story was a little hard to follow, and for this being Batman year one, we sure didn’t get a lot of Bruce/Batman POV. A lot of this story follows Jim Gordon’s POV, which was interesting, but it was a little annoying. I just wanted more Batman POV content & stuff, and I wasn’t very satisfied with how the story played out. Bruce just didn’t really do anything at all. I honestly thought this would be a story of ‘one shots’ that took place within Batman’s first year as Batman, but it just didn’t live up to my expectations.

This wasn’t terrible, but it also wasn’t something I’m gonna think about regularly.

*Counting this as Uncanny X-Men #4 - #7

This is the first Uncanny X-Men story I’ve read, and I really really enjoyed it. I mainly read this for Scarlet Witch & Quicksilvers first appearance but I really enjoyed the story as a whole.

*3.5

This was fine. I’m just really over this story. I’ve been reading it for weeks. It’s good but it’s just so a hard story to binge, because it’s super repetitive

I have finally finished this story!! Thank God. I really enjoyed this entire thing as a whole, but god damn was it a pain in the ass to get through. I don’t think I’ve ever stuck with a story this long, for this many issues so I’m pretty proud of myself. (Also, if ur wondering, I read Captain America Vol. 5 completely out of order. I started reading it at issue #26, read through issue #50 and then went back and read the first 21 issues.)

My main highlights:
• Winterwidow + their first appearance
• Sharon Carter
• Bucky’s Winter Soldier backstory
• Sam Wilson & Sharon Carter friendship
• Death of Captain America (no Steve slander is aloud, I just rrly loved that run).

I have always been an MCU Civil War anti. I cannot even watch the movie anymore bc every character makes me want to scream. It’s one of my most hated movies ever. I just can’t stand it. So I was, rationally, hesitant to read the comic version of Civil War.

But I surprisingly really enjoyed this. I think it was mostly due to the fact that we got to see most of the comic characters instead of just the few that we got in the MCU. It was also nice to have this be focused on numerous different characters, and the way it affected their arcs going forward. If the MCU didn’t make Civil War a Captain America movie, and done a better job at highlighting each characters opinions on the “Sokovia Accords”, I would have enjoyed the movie better.

And in the comic version of Civil War, I could also see Tony’s team and their reasons why they wanted to become registered heroes. I just feel like Tony’s reasons in the MCU aren’t motivated enough for me to side with him. I’m always going to be team Cap, but I feel like I’m the comic Civil War, a lot of team Tony had some very good points and ideas.

Overall, this was pretty good. And does Peter’s story get heavily affected by the fact he revealed his identity? I’m pretty curious.
