Sexy times with a really good plot! (I confess- I prefer my spice with a solid plot and this delivered). I like the political intrigue and scheming. Really enjoyed the development of Meg, Theo, and Galen's relationships; one on one and as a trio.
Excited to read the next in the series.

There were parts of this book that I really enjoyed and some parts I didn't.
I really liked Ava as a character- a sweeet, fun woman with a darker past. Her character development through the story was great.
Ava and Alex's interactions were also excellent. His dark, possessive nature to her sweet sunshine was exactly what I was looking for in this read. The spice = 👌🏻
What I didnt enjoy The TWO villain reveals. I think this would have been better if it was just one or the other. Making her father AND his uncle both bad guys in that way was too much. I think just knowing her father was a shady business man would have been enough for him, but to also make him the one that tried to kill her in her childhood and to have never loved her was a bit too much. I think the story could have progressed the same without all of that.
Either way, I will definitely read the next one. I'm excited to see Bridget and Rhys 😊

My first historical romance!
Very Jane Austen's Mr Darcy and Elizabeth Bennett vibes from the main characters Annabelle and Sebastien.
She is- stubborn/proud - attending Oxford and a suffragette working to sway men of influence to the cause (The Married Women's Property Act- women being allowed to own property and thus being able to vote). He is a cold, proud Duke tasked by the queen to ensure the Tory party comes out victorious in the upcoming election. Totally at odds but drawn to one another. He is fascinated by her intelligence and how she challenges his ways of thinking. She is finding that he is a clever and passionate man behind his aloof exterior.
The tension surrounding their class differences really made this engaging.
Light spice - this was definitely a romance with light spice, not a spicy romance.

Oh, this was such a CUTE story. I enjoyed every moment of Olive's and Adam's "fake dating".
The banter - perfection! (Their witty back and forth was so funny and sweet)
The tropes - amazing! (I loved Olive's awareness of the quintessential romcom tropes as they were happening in real life)
The STEM academia setting - so immersive. I am not even remotely a scientist but i loved the attention to detail.
The friendships - I ADORED the side characters in this book just as much as Olive and Adam themselves. A+ friend groups.
Merged review:
I will always love Adam Carlsen ❤️

Really enjoyed this short story.
I love how Olivie Blake writes such human characters (even if they're not technically human).
Loved the inclusion of NOLA lore.
Would actually have loved this to be a longer book but also feel like it was wrapped up really well.

Reread so I can remember characters and get caught up with the newer books in the series (I forgot that Fejo was the rakish sexy pirate that we meet in the first book😍). Still love this one so much! ❤️
I cannot get over big, grumpy Theo being so unaccustomed to and starved for affection that he cannot fathom Jade being attracted to him in the slightest 😭 Instead, the only reasonable explanation is that she is some femme fatale sent to spy on him 😆 SO good.
***************
I love these standalone sci-fi romances- especially alien romances. The tropes are always so consistent and I love that. This one checks all of the boxes for me.
Abducted and then rescued
Breeding k!nk- *the male's species is always on the verge of extinction and they need compatible women*
Mating Bonds
Educated in the arts of female pleasure
Earth ladies teaching other species the joys of kissing
PLUS - this one also had the good ol' marriage of convenience and grumpy/sunshine tropes.
The audiobook for this is EXCELLENT.

This book was just absolutely delightful - such a sweet and fun read. Piper and Brendan are a perfect match. I loved that I could feel the character references from Alexis Rose (Schitt's Creek). Very excited to eventually read Hannah's story (Hook Line and Sinker)
