Devix and Cara's story continues. Devix is still currently my favorite. 

(Just like the 2nd book for Kate/Vaxa, this one is all about the pregnancy lol).

They have to go back to Luxiria and deal with the fallout of Devix returning from exile. 

This wrapped up nicely and was a great little side quest from the Warriors of Luxiria series 😆

Okay, I actually ended up really liking this one. It's tropey, FOR SURE, but once you lean into it.... 🤌🏻 

I don't <I>love</i> a love triangle but this one worked. And the ending got me! I wasn't fully expecting that. Interested to see how it all plays out. 

As for all of the comparisons to ACOTAR.... I mean, I guess? (It literally compares itself to ACOTAR so no surprise there) But honestly, you could make the same argument for any book that has fae in it. Nothing groundbreaking on either account regarding the fae lore involved. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Whew!! 🥵 Okay but Devix?? New favorite from the Luxiria universe. 

Exiled Luxirian warrior turned mercenary? SIGN ME THE HELL UP! This is my catnip.

Devix is the brother of Rixavox (from The Alien's Touch). He had been wrongfully exiled for a crime he did not commit and is now doing one final mercenary job so he can finally be free to live a peaceful life on a small colony planet, Rozun. 

The job? Deliver a human purchased by his boss for said bosses harem. But once Devix meets Cara- the feisty female who refuses to accept defeat, he realizes she is his fated mate. 

UGH this one is SO good! So many delicious things:
✅ Forced proximity
✅ Spicy combat training 
✅ Dagger to throat 

This one wraps up nicely but this couple DOES have a 2nd book soooo don't mind me. BRB. Going to read it now 👋🏻

I liked Cecelia and Rixavox more than Kate/Vaxa but not as much as Lihvan and Beks. 
 
Cecelia has cancer and opts to stay longer so she can seek medical treatment on Luxiria. (A simple enough treament on this alien planet). Rixavox is tasked with watching over her while she is undergoing the healing process. Together, they struggle to keep things innocent while she's healing. 

The first half of the book was a little slow on plot but the tension and pining were excellent. 

I also can't get over how Rixavox pronounced her name as  <i>"Sessela"</i> - so cute. 

Fun fact, Zoey's Warrior of Rozun books are about Roxavox's banished brother!! May have to go read those now because I am interested in Devix's story.

I loved Beks and Lihvan! (Way more than Kate and Vaxa).

Beks is the impulsive, passionate best friend that we hear about from Kate who winds up in the same abducted situation.

Lihvan is the responsible and logical war general that is sent to captain the mission to rescue the human women from the Pit. When he does, he saves Beks and immediately recognizes her as his mate. 

He is constantly reminding himself that she will be going back to Earth so he tries to stay away. So Beks is the one who ends up pursuing him. (I like those dynamics.)

This has a lot of my favorite alien romance tropes:
✅ Grumpy/Sunshine
✅ Forced proximity on a remote planet waiting for rescue
✅ Big serious alien who is scarred and not conventionally attractive to his people and the feisty little human who thinks he's the hottest thing in the galaxy.

I liked this one better than the first book. Kate and Vaxa's story continues. 

There is way more pregnancy stuff here so if that's not your thing, now you know 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think what I liked most was the build up for the rest of the series. We get to meet more characters (who I know we'll see in their own books). We also get to see a lot more of the political backdrop to the series. I am most interested to see what becomes of Vaxa's estranged brother, Jaxor.

Solid alien romance- just what I needed to get my mind away from an emotional spiral. 

This one does end on somewhat of a cliff hanger. (If you're looking for full resolution on the side story). So the second book will finish up Kate and Vaxa's story while setting up the rest of the series. 

Will probably continue 👌🏻

5 ⭐ for how messy this is getting!! I love it. 

I think this is officially the only Hades/Persephone retelling that I need. 

Standout moments:
💙 Hades and his doggos. (I would read a whole book just on the doggies actually)
💙 <I>"Spring seemed completely different. Savage and unpredictable. It's beautiful. And it's been you all along."</i>
💖 Falling asleep on the phone together 
💛 Hera sensing what happened to Persephone 🥺
💖 Persephone and Cerberus's relationship 🥹🥹🥹
💙 That whole scene of them in Tartarus 
💙 Hades grounding Cerberus
💙 Hades mooning over Persephone's upsidedown heart shaped butt in his fogged up mirror 😂

💜 My growing hate for Apollo

Okay, well I adored this! Such a great start to the Hades and Persephone story.  

Highlight moments:
💙 Hades introducing Persephone to his dogs
💖 Persephone ranking Hades scoundrel percentage  
💜 Knowing Apollo is going to get WRECKED eventually and Hades is going to take great pleasure in delivering that karma.
💛 That little bonus chapter at the end about Hera's vision.
