Another great instalment.
The relationship between Guts and The Hawks is fascinating. I can’t wait to see where it ends up.

Super pacy.
Short chapters and each one with a hook to bring you back.

I think the third person omniscient perspective was handled really well and made the story more unique than a more typical first person version might have been.

Downsides:
I don’t think the author is great at writing male characters, but the men are mostly sidelined for the female protagonists so it didn’t hold back the story too much.
And, the moral you’re left with at the end didn’t ring true for me personally.

All in all, the concept is fun and just the sort of read I was in the mood for.

Great book, but long. There are a few things that even repeat.

Great instalment. Really appreciate getting know Guts’ background. Can’t wait to read the next volume.

Surprisingly dense with useful, well-put, actionable, and lesser spoken about writing information.

I’ve read a lot of books about writing and didn’t expect this to be anything special, but it is really well thought out and worth reading no matter how many other writing books you’ve read.

It feels as though it tends towards screenwriting (at least in terms of examples) but the methods are useful no matter the medium.

The tease at the end really sets up some added depth for the series to follow.

Informative and interesting. Worth a read, but I preferred The Rape of Nanking.
