I just have to let everyone know what an underrated jewel I've found. 
I absolutely loved The Lights of Prague. It had its faults, but more than made up for them with a vibrant and credible cast (among which a powerful bi icon of a vampire lady 🤤), a refreshingly original setting, and compelling character interactions. The LGBT rep, vampires, and cultural flavor all came together to ensure Nicole Jarvis' debut was right up my alley. I fell in love with it about 100 pages in. I can't remember the last time I was this invested in a hetero romance 🏃🏻‍♀️ I just adored Ora and Domek. Their relationship was interesting and avoided a lot of tropes that always make me roll my eyes.
Now, the writing style itself was fairly unremarkable (though not BAD, of course), and seemed to lag at certain bits. The ending was also slightly rushed in my opinion. Other than that I can't complain, and in spite of these complaints it was still one of the most enjoyable books I've read all year. Maybe the most, so far. It was just what I needed. It's set in 19th century Czechia for crying out loud. I actually gasped aloud with happiness and pleasure when I found this. I can't tell you how badly I needed a break from books set in the USA or UK with characters named James and Sophie 💀 in summary, READ IT or I'll steal your teeth.

I didn't cry about the ending in the anime adaptation, even though I didn't know it was coming. I cried about it in the book, even though I knew it was coming. That ..really tells you everything you need to know. I don't advise reading this while already emotionally unstable, it'll put you in the psych ward.
