I did enjoy reading this book and it's made me really want to read Persuasion by Jane Austen which is an Austen novel I have yet to read but I didn't like how weak the women were portrayed in this story and the constant saying of 'well, that's what women do.' No, no...not every woman will think a man loves her after two days of knowing him, and start naming their 23 children.No.

If the female characters had been stronger and smarter in their reactions towards the male characters in particularly Kay with Oli Wade Owen( and who couldn't see that Tibs twist from a thousand miles away)

When I read books about Ancient Rome and the same goes for watching TV Shows, I expect everything to be extremely over the top. So when I was expecting an overload of blood, and sex and raw passion when picking up this book, I found it to be extremely bland. I know I shouldn't expect much from a 'Christian Fiction' but I thought it would be a lot more exciting than it was. I have never hated a character more or found a more disgusting character in a book than Julia. I don't know if we are supposed to feel sorry for her but I just don't.Everthing she does is for selfish reasons and she still acts like a 15 year old. Hadassah was far too Mary- Sue. She was unrealistically perfect in everyway because God 'shone' through her and it was so unbelievable that a person could be that nice and forgiving and accepting of her situation and the way she was treated by others.

The only redeeming light in this book for me was Atretes and I will continue to read and find out more about his story and hopefully he will find his casually abandoned son.

I'm so glad I won this book on Goodreads because I had never intended to read it. I devoured both Starcrossed and Dreamless and have gone out to buy Goddess. The plot is brilliant, and I find almost every character to be interested and lovable. Normally, a love triangle cause me to moan out loud as it is some sort of necessity with every single YA book.But I find myself falling in love with Orion. He is a genuinely kind character and I would actually love for him to be the one to end up with Helen though I think that is probably not going to happen.I like Lucas but there's just something about Orion.

I also don't trust Daphne one bit...I think she might be secretly evil and have an evil plan up her sleeve.
