I went the audiobook route with this one and it was awesome, amazing cast!

This gorgeous book cover and blurb of a "nightmare-filled forest" drew me in, yet the story quickly lulled me into a very middling mood. Maybe it was a me problem? I'm invested enough to read the sequel though.

Although the visual representation is fun to have, the actual short story is better.

Having heard unspoilery bits and pieces about this short story over the years, I had a hunch as to what this lottery might be. And my guess was oh so close. Still left me very much with a "what the actual fuck" moment and a wanting for more backstory!
