Somehow just as cozy, but better than the first novella. I read the duology back to back and I'm likely to do it again, this year.
1.5 Stars rounded up because I liked the artwork. The writing itself was fine, I guess, but the story was an absolute bore. I wanted more from a story about Krampus, the Yule Lord; preferably one that didn't center around a backwoods, small town drug ring and, an honestly, lousy guy trying to "win back" his wife and daughter. All while getting tangled up in an excruciatingly dull revenge plot between Krampus and Santa/Baldr.
My favorite (thus far) Gaiman. Always worth the reread ❤
Between the positive reviews and the book blurb, I was optimistic that I'd find this book to be relatable and amusing. Turns out, I'm not actually interested in a rambling, inner monologue about the depths of depression, anxiety, and mental illness, unless it's my own. Or maybe I just didn't jive with this author's style? Especially when it seems like they fancy themselves a quirky comedian with a unique perspective on the human psyche? Uniquely annoying, yes... Even with as open minded and evolved as I like to believe I am, I did not want to finish this book. This book is full of (too many) mediocre musings, at best.

I love Hendrix's writing but this book moved a bit slow for my taste and was a little light on his trademark humor. However this was still a fun story!

Oooh S.P.E.W. how I'd forgotten about you
This is a story about a family battling some crazies, or potentially a possession, with two young sisters being the focus. The main POV is from the younger sister (Merry!). Aaand there's a poisoning
