A cozy horror, not necessarily a haunting, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

This was good. Just good. I suppose I had higher expectations as it was sold to me as a gross-out, shock, horror. Yes there are gross-out scenes and maybe I'm a tad desensitized to them because none of it felt extraordinary or original except the ending. However, the ending was built up well enough with Angel's stories, that I saw the "shock" element coming.

5 stars because I love campy horror, the 80's and heart-felt stories about long, lasting friendships. Hendrix's writing style is incredibly easy going, even paced, and the characters are relatable (especially if you were ever a high school girl). This book cover is definitely one of my favorites, ever.

Not bad. Not great. I usually instantly love Holly Black's books, but this one took 80+ pages for me to become mildly interested. That being said, the plot picked up quite a bit about halfway through and I became committed to the story and enjoyed it enough that I'm pretty sure I would read a sequel.
