Literally one of the handful of required school reading books. I have yet to see either film adaptation, but honestly the book fulfills me on so many levels from atmosphere to character development to the constant suspense of what new bit of information and drama will occur. Forever one of my favorite books.

I absolutely ADORED this! It really is a breath of fresh air to see female characters NOT being pit against each other just because they both had relationships with the same man. I really really want them to make a series (even if it’s just a 5 issue series) of Black Cat and Mary Jane just being supportive besties getting into comic book-y shenanigans together.

I read this before watching the movie and I'm telling you now, don't even bother watching the movie. The story and characters are a lot more likable in this form. However, I actually would've liked having this story in a longer form like 'Watchmen.'

This had some great parts to it, but the ending was a little bit of a letdown. The motivation for the one committing the crimes was a bit off-the-wall and was an absolute stretch as to why they were doing what they were doing. I also wanted a little more character development on the relationship between the 2 sisters in the past but you still get the gist with what's provided. I did really enjoy how detailed the descriptions of all the locations in Paris were so if anything you'll get a nice little imaginary vacation through this book.

This book has been on my to read list for awhile and let me just say that it was definitely worth the wait. This book is so beautifully written to the point where you feel like you’re being transported into her world and whatever situation she is writing about I would love to see what she does with a work of fiction!

Half the stories were very well done overall, but the other half lacked a likable character but still had an interesting story. I might check out the author's other works to see if a non-anthology format interests me more because overall I feel like I didn't have enough time to care about the characters or their stories.

Because the show went in such a different direction, it was really nice seeing the brothers actually interact with each other in the story. I feel like I get more of a sense of all the members of The Umbrella Academy as a family in this volume than I did in Apocalypse Suite and the show. Again, Vanya and Allison were done a lot better in the show because they’re practically background characters here.

A really great introduction to The Umbrella Academy and very much reads like it should be on the screen. Plot-wise, I enjoyed this a lot more in terms of Vanya encompassing her powers and kind of wished they've gone a little more comic accurate with that in the show. But I do think the show did a better job at fleshing out Vanya and Allison as characters.

Here's hoping for a live-action appearance of The Scientific Man. I actually really really liked this volume as an overall conclusion.
