I think this was a good way to end the story with the current characters while still having a chance to bring the series back in the future. Happy that Emily was the main character because I kind of saw her journey in this volume fighting her old/more unlikable self as the most realistic to real-life growing up, especially with being able to see her music taste change over time. The artwork was of course gorgeous and really entices me to read their 'Wicked + Divine' series.

A fun collection of stories that really gives you a look at different aspects of the Latinx culture (whether U.S. or international). I very much enjoyed being introduced to a few newer characters I would love to see more of (particularly Eva Quintero and Reptil) while also having some of the bigger characters (like America Chavez and Miles Morales) also included for good measure. Another great issue in the Marvel Voices series.

Generally enjoyed all the stories included in this collection. That Black Panther tribute was absolutely beautiful (sobbing), and I think they did a great job of showing us a little more about the characters currently floating around the MCU. I will say, I already can't wait for Moon Girl to make her appearance so Marvel better hurry up and get her in there.

This was pretty on par with how strong ‘Impulse’ was and it was interesting realizing that all of this was happening while the events of its predecessor was also happening. In terms of story and the twist and turns that Hopkins usually includes in her work, this one (for me at least) was a bit more enticing and dramatic (something that makes me come back to her as an author). However, I feel like apart from Cara (which isn’t surprising since she is the twin of the main character of the first book), none of the other 3 characters really got grew or overcame what they were struggling with in terms of ‘perfection.’ In a realistic world, overcoming the pressures of perfection is definitely easier said than done, but it would have been nice to see more than just Cara be able to have a positive change (Andre was the closest I feel but his story was very surface level for my taste).

I haven’t played the video game, but definitely enjoying the ride so far. Gives me slight daytime frame antics but with superheroes. And when the Black Cat finally makes her debut in the MCU, I hope they go with this costume because it is so beautiful.

I feel like I'm so used to young awkward Spidey that seeing him dealing with adult things (like a sexually driven relationship) almost comes as a shock (but a good shock). They definitely knew how to split up the issues that make you want to come back for more (see my soap opera comparison in my review for issue 1).

I really wanted to like this book because normally anything regarding doppelgängers is right up my alley, and I am also trying to be proactive with reading more books written by and about Asian Americans as I myself am Asian American. Unfortunately, I feel like there were 3 tones to this book. From the description, I thought I would be jumping into a mystery turned self-acceptance story (regarding the character of Matt). Instead, I got 1 part being non-white in Trump's America (even though it's not blatantly stated that Trump is the "KKK endorsed presidential candidate"), 1 part being Asian American in the modern world (filled with the very real stereotypes that Asian Americans need to work to unlearn), and 1 part doppelgänger discovery story (where the thriller/mystery type stuff lands). If the 3 aspects of the story were 3 separate books focused on those particular themes I think I would have enjoyed them a lot more.

If I didn’t already know there were 2 more issues of this series my jaw would’ve literally dropped to the floor so hard in shock over the ending sequence of this issue. Also really liked seeing Mary Jane as a good example of accepting your partner’s dating past and moving on from it.

This issue really does beautifully show 2 different kinds of relationships that a lot of people go through. You have Felicia who is a clear ‘toxic relationship’ type person (which we’ve slowly seen since the first issue), and then on the opposite side you have Mary Jane who embodies healthy and loving aspects in functional and thriving relationship (one that we all strive for).

A perfect conclusion! Definitely made this series a re-read for me and absolutely one that I will recommend to others!
