This was an absolute perfect ending to Black Cat’s entire 2020-2021 run. Honestly, I think it actually elevated the 2019-2020 portion of Felicia’s journey where you can’t help but fall in love with her. Hoping we get more of her in the future of Marvel comics (and not just with Spider-Man)

I usually like a little bit more dialogue and overall story in my graphic novels, but I will say that the amount of gorgeous artwork added to the book's pace really made a difference. Pimienta does a wonderful job with 'less is more' and for that, I commend him, because this could have easily gone into trying to do too much with a short timeframe. I would absolutely love to see this adapted into a psychological thriller-type movie.

Don't get me wrong, the artwork is GORGEOUS, and there was a lot of potential for the plot to go beyond alien falls into the lap of Sam x3 (in a more cosmically sinister way), but this wasn't particularly my favorite. Samuel is the complete embodiment of an annoying teenage edgelord and kind of ruins the whole story with his 'I NEED to be heard because I AM the voice of the revolution' white savior attitude. I'm happy at least Samantha got a happy ending, even though I was heartbroken over Samir's story as well. I think this could've benefitted from having a few more issues to flesh out the story more.

Another thing is that I really don't like reading stutters (but that's a personal preference).

Putting my longtime love of All Time Low aside for this review (since obviously this book was created for the fans), because I really ended up loving this book for its gorgeous art, the very relatable characters, and its overall plot of music being the universal connector no matter where you are in life. This book is so beautifully done by showcasing how relationships can blossom just from sharing the same love for a band, but it also takes a step further to make the reader see that it's ok to continue trying to chase your dreams even if the world tries to tell you to stick to an unrealistic timeline.

Was a treat to see Natasha's first-ever comics appearance and to see how she's developed as a character overall in the early years. She very much gets a lot of the 'oh she can't do these things because she's a woman' but handles it with grace and general badassery. I live for women proving men wrong, especially in comics where men seem to think female characters are reserved for eye candy.

Features more of the grittier runs while still staying relatively young reader-friendly (minus The Cold War portion). Despite the 3 very different art styles, it was great to witness more examples of how deep Natasha's loyalty can go regarding the people in her life.

PSA: this is definitely for ADULT readers (heavy violence and sexual nature). This had 3 different artwork styles, but they differentiated enough from each other that it wasn't too much of a shock when you switched between the stories included. All 3 series included are heavily focused on Yelena Belova and her life goal to become worthy of the Black Widow moniker. The runs they chose really showcase Yelena coming into her own in a coming-of-age type way while also showcasing bits of the dysfunctional sisterly love that the Black Widow film seems to be touching base on.

I LOVED this book! A great little one-off story with the potential to grow with absolutely GORGEOUS artwork! My only complaint was that I wish there was a little bit more to the story so I can have a little more character backstory, but otherwise it was near perfect. Great for fans of the film ‘Nightcrawler’ (or seedy journalism type media in general) as well as vampires (obviously).
