Slightly too many characters for the overall plot (especially coming from someone who really enjoys multiple POV), but other than that I think this is an important book for people to read in order to understand the daily lives of deaf individuals in a realistic way. I learned a lot about not only the struggles that deaf individuals face against those who are hearing, but also the prejudices that live within the deaf community as well.
informative sad medium-paced

Definitely wish this was more in-depth, especially with the trial, but luckily Tim Burton’s movie exists (highly recommend). Hoping to find books specifically about the trial if anyone has recs!

I’m sure I’ll read (or at least audiobook) the full novel at some point, but I’m not going to lie and say that I didn’t enjoy how beautiful (and somehow relaxing) this was illustrated and how much I was able to understand the characters, setting, and overall story through its art.

I wish I could lock every transphobe in the world in a room and force them to listen to this so they can understand in detail how a trans person (in this case child) feels when they can't be who they really are.

Is our main character perfect? Absolutely not. Does this book go beyond a standard romance and make you want to continue fighting for workplace equality and realistic job expectations? 1000%

A fun satire on seasonal depression and big pharma (specifically regarding mental health) while also being super relatable as someone who was a long-time medication and therapy resistor . Very 'Daria' meets 'Unedited Footage Of A Bear' Infomercial Episode. Extra half star just for the fact that she shits on Mariah Carey being inescapable during Christmastime.

A perfect balance of informative without being afraid of being critical of the things that still needs to change for gender equality in Iceland. Lord how this book makes the USA look like a hot mess express.
informative medium-paced

I do not recommend this on audiobook due to poor narration and the fact that the abridged version was the only one available, but I'm interested in the subject matter enough to want to pick up the hardcopy of the book in the future.
informative slow-paced

Heavily filled with textbook style jargon, but also extremely informative. Highly recommend for huge fans of Cleopatra or those looking for an extensive history lesson on her life.

This was missing a huge chunk of the middle of the plot to the point where I needed to flip back to see if I was missing something before getting to the ending. Great artwork and concept, but definitely needed a few more issues to really build a stronger story.
