The irony that this is discussing AI and technology in the God position when this issue came out in 2019. Also, I know I’m probably alone in this, but I don’t mind Cable being in the backseat as the damsel in distress.

This was a little heavy on the secondary text side, especially considering half the issue was (very well-done) action. However, I still really enjoyed this in regarding to moving the story along and I’m digging the buildup to what exactly is going on in the grand scheme of things.

I’m really enjoying the cast of characters and the overall plot of this series so far. I feel like there’s been a balanced blend of quick backstory and real time stakes that’s keeping me on my toes. 

I figured that this was going to be dark but my lord is it DARK so far! Strong start to the series with a great duo in Psylocke and X-23. Can’t wait to see how our story unfolds!

Regardless of this being a fictional character, I think this is the best biography that I’ve read this far. It’s insane to learn about the rollercoaster that is Catwoman’s life (whether it be in comics or in film) and the many different iterations that her character has embodied (equal parts good and bad). I think that this book can easily be included into gender studies courses as it highlights the societal notions that have been a part of Catwoman’s story since her beginning. 

This read just like a movie with a pace and intricately spun web that inspired many nights of continuous page turning to see what happens next. Slightly too much religious highlights and mentioning of a certain problematic author (especially considering what the twist ends up being), but overall this was a wild ride and definitely going to be one that I'll be recommending to those in search of a summer-y horror book.

I think the Fallen Angels might be my favorite team in the X-Men universe. The cast of characters is great. The plot is fantastic and can (unfortunately still) be applied to current events. Nothing about this feels like a product of its time, which I feel like is really rare in comics. Most of all, this was just straight-up fun all around.

This was a heartbreaking true story that was equal parts informative and eye-opening. However, I think this suffered from 1. a slightly boring narrator and 2. an 'Author's Note' section that included more of what I personally wanted to know regarding the aftermath and investigation. I do think that people should read this to understand just how affected marginalized communities are when it comes to the lack of properly functioning public facilities and access to essential services.

I essentially went into this blindly as it was a recommendation from my library and I'm happy I enjoyed it more than I expected it to. I think this author really knows how to create atmospheres and situations where you feel like you are in the characters' shoes (and maybe even more so because we've all just recently experienced a global pandemic). I think the characters could've had a little more work done because there seemed to be so many of them that we really only got the surface level of who they are/were. As a fan of dystopian-type stories, I think it was a relatively strong one and I'm intrigued to see how this got adapted. 

 This is 1000% a must-read for not only comic book lovers, but those interested in an in-depth history of publication (and boy is it lengthy). I love that this doesn't sugar coat or completely dismiss the racism, sexism, and homophobia that's existed in comics since the beginning and even more so now in today’s modern age with the rise of toxic fandom. It was also fascinating to learn about not just the development of the characters themselves, but also how much world events and pop culture really influence what kind of stories are being created, distribution and royalties, efforts on international marketing, and the rise of the Comic Con. There’s a bit of everything for whatever specific interest you may have regarding the comic book industry strongly suggest this in audiobook format.
