I honestly wish this was an actual movie because I think that the actors absolutely killed it by bringing their characters to life and the story is eerily relevant in a constantly gentrifying world. I do agree that there should have been maybe one more episode or an extended Epilogue episode so we know what happened after the big reveal, but otherwise, I was very engaged in the story and actually learned something in the process.

I very much relate to a lot of Prado's experiences and ideologies and it was a treat to have her narrate her own essays so we as the listener can properly feel the impact of her words. As a music lover, I appreciate her incorporation of a 'Soundtrack To My Life' type structure and find it unique.

The overall idea of 'what makes a fulfilling life' is so relevant and important to discuss, and I think that Erlick did a fantastic job on that aspect. I love myself a multi-POV book, but I think that some of the characters could have had combined storylines just based on how the overall story had gone. All in all, this is definitely a book that I will be recommending to people who are looking for a more reflective book.

I needed to research why this is a banned book and sure enough one of the reasons is because it challenges "traditional religion" (probably when there are multiple references to God probably being more like a woman).

Ooof. Plotless/overly open-ended books are very much not my thing, but the narration was great at least.

A great conclusion to the Nina Guerrera saga. Maldonado knows how to flesh her characters out and creates intriguing crime scenes that keep you on your toes. I can't wait to check out more of her works.

I want to kick myself for taking so long to read this (considering I've owned it for 3 years) because WOW! WOW TO EVERYTHING! Am I going to make this book my entire personality? Probably lol.

Maldonado did a fantastic job in the second installment of the Nina Guerrera chronicles and honestly, I enjoyed this one a bit more than the first book. It may have been that I've already spent time with the characters, but I think that the investigation of this one was filled with higher stakes and an overall more interesting plot.

I think this was an eerily beautiful way to encompass (at least in my opinion) the 5 stages of grief. Moreno successfully created a cinematic atmosphere that makes the reader feel like they're a character in the story, and there were definitely a few times when I needed to continue reading on due to genuinely feeling fear from what I just read. I highly recommend this book to anyone who's a fan of the movie 'Smile,' and I can finally understand why so many people want this adapted by A24.
