This is a very important book for not only young queer people to have access to, but also for queer bipoc people as there is so much prejudice towards queer people in our communities.

Death in Venice

*listened on audiobook* The introduction really took me out of the story before it even started and then the story meandered. I might try a physical copy in the future.

This  book made me so emotional with everything that is currently going on in Palestine, and it’s the one of the books that I really urge people to read regardless on your stance. This is not only a greatly detailed personal account of the everyday life of a Palestinian, but his overt focus on wanting to find solutions for coexistence and an end to violence is everything that we as a modern society should be striving for.

I felt like because this didn’t have enough focus on either of the twisty plot points that the ending fell a little flat for me. But since there should be a sequel coming out I’m definitely interested in reading it.

Felt a little unfinished story wise, but I still enjoyed the characters and the artwork. Looking forward to checking out more from this team.

*read as single issues* *rating is average between 5 issues*

#1 - A pretty solid first issue of a “series” that’s easier to follow if you didn’t just read the Excalibur series before this.
#2 -  Such a great cast of characters and I’m definitely enjoying the pace of this story.
#3 -  Everyone shined in this issue! Also, I’m really enjoying the email exchanges with Doug and Rictor!
#4 -  A rollercoaster of emotions perfectly mixed with action and gorgeous artwork.
#5 - A perfect conclusion to the story! Everything is wrapped up nicely without needing to continue on with another series!

By far the best of the ‘Warmer’ series. Not only is this make you think about how much pressure is placed upon the younger generations to “make the world a better place,” but it also blatantly calls out the government officials and adults who are supposed to be in charge of making sure the planet doesn’t go to shit.

I kind of wish this was a dual timeline romance but otherwise I enjoyed this. I really liked that there was heavy discussion regarding interracial relationships and relationships with partners of different social classes as well as making a point that the pressure to be perfect (especially in Asian cultures) needs to cease to exist for everyone's sanity.

This book is a perfect example of how much you can learn about history and culture just from reading books. While this is a fictional story, it's clear how much work the author put in from how much timeframe is covered (which she mentions in the acknowledgements). I knew little to nothing about the details regarding the Japanese occupation of Korea and the Pacific War during World War II, and I feel like I got more out of this book than all of my prior history courses combined.
