I enjoyed this one. This introduces the chaos gremlin that most modern takes on Holmes

I’ve also been alternating with the audiobook and the kindle book for this one, and I found out from the forward in the narration that this book was essentially the result of Doyle and (Oscar) Wilde meeting

You can definitely see how Holmes evolved even from the first novel. I also feel like the characters were a bit more flushed out, which was nice

I feel this wasn’t quite 4 stars, but I enjoyed it more than most of the 3 stars I’ve read

Sometimes my focus didn’t stay with me to read this for extended periods, but I feel when I did read it I got through a lot of it

I definitely was on the edge of my seat with some of the climaxes of the book. I also questioned myself about one of the twists

Honestly, if you’ve read another book of this author, I’d say give it a chance

This was a fun little read. We picked this book for our November bookclub book, and it was an interesting premise. I really enjoyed the characters and I feel things got wrapped up very solidly

I’m not normally one for romance novels, but this one wasn’t one of the “hardcore” romance. I feel like it was more of a slow burn. I love the fact that the monster was more concerned about therapy than the human

I’m reading/listening to the Complete Collection and these are my thoughts post each novel/short story

This was a fun little read. Having watched the entirety of Sherlock (Benedict’s series), I knew how this case happened. But it was definitely interesting to see it in the Victorian England way. I was super confused about the whole derail of the Mormon’s but even that made sense in the end

If you’re a fan of true crime docuseries (which I am) I think you’ll enjoy this. The red herrings and twists were really good. One of them made my jaw drop and I had to sit and stew for a bit before I continued

I’d love to see another book in this style

I was almost a little worried reading this book because of the comparison of Lord of the Flies (which I cannot stand)

But I finished this book in about 2 days (maybe 3) and I really liked it.

I like the idea that each chapter adds to the various people’s perspective of what happened during the time after the storm

I’ve always enjoyed the premise of a battle royale (and hope to read that book soon) and the idea of being locked in a park. I’m so glad I found this book and was able to experience it

This was a fun read. It gave me similar vibes of John Dies at the End. I also vaguely remember reading this back when it was on nosleep. I’ll probably read the other books but this was a good little pallet cleanser before diving into some other heavier books

On another note, I learned some stuff about rare disorders from this book, so that was cool

This is the second of Blake Crouch’s works that I’ve read - but ironically the first of his I bought

As someone who enjoys small town thrillers and the idea of a town not being what it seems, this book checked for so many of my interests

I started watching Twin Peaks, but never got too far into it. But this book has pushed me to pick it back up again. I may also watch the Wayward Pines tv series - but I may do that after I’ve read the rest of the series

This is going to be difficult to review, if for no other reason than I’ve recently listened to (most) of the original podcast and the new live action series of this story. So I’ll be needing to separate the three in my brain to review this

If you’ve never heard the TEoS story, I feel this is a really good go of the story. I enjoyed the fact that we had more than just Dave, Mateo, Katie and Linda’s perspective and we had additional information from people all around the world

The idea of dying in your sleep is something that you don’t think about until it’s thrown at you like this

If you’re going into this after only seeing the live action series, this will feel very familiar - just with some additions that I feel were very nice to have added

If you’ve come from the original podcast, this is going to feel a LOT different, but don’t feel this was a bad adaption of the story

This was a fun read and what I like to call as a quick “pallet cleanser”

I don’t think I enjoyed this as much as the other book I’ve read from this author. But I can definitely understand why people enjoyed this

Especially if you work in a similar office setting there’s always people like those in this book. It made it a bit uncomfortable at some points because I do know people like both main characters in this book
