challenging informative inspiring

I read this for the Bad Bitch Book Club Let's Get Political reading group. I know very little about politics and movements, and didn't know who Alicia was before reading this. I am SO glad this book came into my life. I learned so much about movements, particularly Black Lives Matter: how they start, how it's so much more than a hash tag, and how much passion and planning goes into launching a movement.

Alicia is so inspiring. After reading this, I can't wait to figure out how to get more involved with a movement(s) for something I am passionate about and learn how to get involved with making more of a difference.

Really all I have to say about this is: IT. IS. CUTE! A college-age love story that involves hockey and lots of baking.

I'd heard mixed things about this first installment in the Brown Sisters trilogy, but I loved this! Hibbert did such a good job of interweaving Chloe's various struggles of self-worth and her chronic illness. It is so refreshing to see a plus-size protagonist of color in a romance novel. The beginning dragged a little for me, but once the romance started to pick up, I was sucked in.

As with most memoirs I seem to read, I knew nothing about Michelle going into this. But I am now obsessed with her. I love this memoir so much. As a plus size woman, I related to Michelle so much. To some of the stories she told about growing up, about her relationship with her body in relation to the world around her. Not to mention, she is so funny. I think anyone can take away something from Michelle's book. There are so many good life lessons in here. I know I learned about what it's like to grow up in a black body in America. Michelle is such a good story teller.

Audiobook - I listened to this on audio and highly recommend!

I've really been thinking on what to say about this book. I am still not sure if I liked the storyline, but this is a good book. It is well written and you really don't know what's going to happen next. There's suspense throughout the book. It was hard to put this one down. I am not a big thriller fan, but can't deny this is a good story and good book!

The first book in this duet is really good, but I like this sequel even more. I will definitely be checking out more books by Nana. This book has very spicy scenes, romance, lots of secrets unfolding, and secret spy agencies. It was hard to put this book down and I flew through the pages.

An impactful memoir sticks with you long after you've finished reading it. And I can say, a few months after having read this, I am still thinking about and reflecting on Somebody's Daughter. It takes so much courage to take your entire life story - your experiences, feelings, and thoughts - and share them. But Ford did just that and we are so lucky to be able to read this story.

Ford's story isn't an easy one to read - there are a lot of experiences that can be hard to read about. However, we can learn so much from Ashley. This book sheds a light on what it's light to grow up black in America. On what it's like to not have the white picket fence childhood. The reader is able to hear about such raw emotions surrounding difficult parental relationships.

Ali Wong is hilarious and her memoir delivers so many laughs. This is fantastic on audiobook and is well-written memoir.

Wong had me laughing the entire time. I devoured this book and highly recommend. She had so many funny stories that were laden with hard truths about racism and sexism that are ever-present in America today, especially in the entertainment industry.  Wong writes this as if she is talking to her daughters, giving them advice on growing up in this world. And her stories and tales and advice are all what we need to hear. She uses her journey of getting to where she is today to inspire the reader on giving your best and not letting others bring you down.

I felt so inspired after reading this, and my abs hurt from laughing. Highly recommend this to anyone!
