challenging dark emotional hopeful reflective sad medium-paced

4.5/5 Stars
This is a book that describes a difficult journey and a family that stood united through not just one, but two wars. This journey brought tears, hunger and hopelessness, but still, they survived and lived. Lived to become a part of history, a story more than worth telling and that I'm thankful to have read.

It's a lovely story of a deaf girl, finding not only love, but also a home.
This might not be the best of love stories/novels but it has great meaning to me since it brought me out of a heavy depression years ago. Don't ask me how. The mind tends to work in curious ways.

I can only say, I love this book dearly and I hope other readers enjoy it too.

Grumpy x sunshine trope

This book was fun to read. I enjoyed it a great deal.

SPOILERS

I mostly disliked Lizzie not defending herself from Sasha. I mean, seriously? I understand the circumstances, but still, I hated that.
And the beginning of the book. I honestly thought of Theo as a misogynistic pompous self-centered asshole. I came to eventually like him.

Looking forward to read the other books in the series.

33 pages of motly Nico and Libby fighting to death. I thought it would be something different, but I didn't dislike it. It gave me a really good laugh.

When I tell you I was enthralled from the beginning, I'm not exaggerating. This story captured me because of the author's writing but mostly, because of its main character, who is a psychopath (if you tell me otherwise, I'm not gonna believe it) with one clear goal: to become the greatest perfumer of the world. I'm just gonna tell you this tiny bit of a spoiler: He fucking does.
