A sweet, low heat romance with a focus on found family.

Enjoyable crime boss romance with plenty of action.

This contemporary mafia romance has plenty of action and drama happening as Dante and Rainn embark on their romance. Dante is the leader of a crime family and Rainn is a high end brothel escort in one of the many businesses owned by Dante.

Circumstances have them crossing paths and the attraction between them is immediate and sizzling leading to many high heat moments. With the darkness of Dante’s world descending upon them, enemies endeavour to destroy all that’s meaningful to Dante, including Rainn. The path to their hard earned HEA is littered with death and destruction but is achieved by overcoming these numerous hurdles. Whilst the two main characters get their HEA the danger is far from over and the final 25% of the plot is focused on two side characters and their story is far from resolved.

I’ve not read a lot of mafia romance so I was really pleased that the characters and interesting plot kept my fully engaged. I enjoyed it but the abrupt change of focus to the two side characters at the 75% mark really felt like I was reading a very long preview of a second book.

Great start to new series.

I do love a well written story about two complex characters, in this case an Alpha male ex Navy SEAL and a mouthy, snarky ex Army PT instructor. Nick and Elijah are both such likeable characters which makes it very easy to connect with them and keep engaged in their story.
They have plenty of chemistry between them that burns at a nice pace and then turns the heat level up high when they finally figure themselves out.
In addition there’s some really interesting side characters who are setting the scene for the next books. Highly recommended.

I just laughed continuously throughout this whole book. It wasn’t just the interactions between Percy and Brandt but also their internal monologues. Not to mention the trouble/shenanigans that dragons in this universe are notorious for.

This is the first in the Hidden Species spin off Here Be Dragons series and it’s such an enjoyable read. That elements of a wonderful cast of main and secondary characters, romance and humour are perfectly balanced. The plot flowed along nicely and kept me engaged from the very first page. It’s also nice having the characters from the Hidden Species series making appearances, sometimes to Percy’s embarrassment. He will never live down the phrase “naked dragon rides”.

Percy and Brandt’s HEA left me with a huge smile on my face, it’s such a fluffy low angst story. So many characters are set up and I’m eagerly waiting on the next in the series which is Dustin’s story.

I look forward to every Jay Hogan book as I know that it will be well written with strongly developed realistic characters, a dash of angst balanced by some humour and that it will leave my heart happy in the end. This book was no exception.

Rhys is so strong from the internal battles that he fights daily, courtesy of an event in his teen years. On the occasions when the battle overwhelms him, he never gives up. He picks himself up, dusts himself off and keeps on going no matter what life throws at him.
Beck is a bit of a grumpy introvert with a soft gooey centre, a love of poetry and a romantic streak a mile wide. He also carries some baggage from his earlier years and has just had a dramatic change in his life.

Circumstances bring these two wonderful men together and even though it’s a bumpy start the attraction between them still sparks. We get to witness them grow and nurture their relationship, warts and all and I couldn’t help but cheer them on to their well deserved HEA. There’s a great cast of side characters to keep things interesting and I adored Rhys’s sassy sidekick Kip and the banter between them.

I was pulled into this story from the first page and the beautifully descriptive writing made it feel like I was gifted a front row seat to watch the events unfold. I laughed along with the characters, I hurt when they hurt and I celebrated with them at the end. This is a fantastic beginning to the Style series and I’m very excited to see where it goes from here.

There is a trigger warning regarding a traumatic event in Rhys’s life. This plot point is written at all times in a very sensitive and compassionate manner.
