Charley and Simon don’t get a angst free HEA in this second chance romance. Their first go round was broken up by malevolent interfering forces and the second go around is not without its own hurdles. With the odds of success seemingly against them, Simon the sweet professor and Charley the snarky museum curator fight for their happiness. All the while their found family interferes and meddles as much as possible, a snow storm has them trapped in a secluded “cabin” which is really a huge villa and past hurts rise again.

This is a lovely read with plenty of heat, some angst and a great cast of main and secondary characters. I laughed, felt a bit sad and smiled at the end.

Loved all the K9’s ❤️

Callum broke Nolan’s heart all those years ago but when circumstances bring them together again the chemistry is still there bubbling away. Nolan is so forgiving towards the broken man that Callum has become. Unrelenting pressures in both his childhood and adult years have had a dramatic effect on Callum but that doesn’t change how Nolan reacts to him. So begins a second chance for them that includes getting to know the older versions of themselves and that does include plenty of steamy times.

Meanwhile the mystery is slowly being solved but not without its own drama, suspense and a twist or two at the end. The cast of side characters keep things interesting and I do include all the K9’s as side characters! I loved Callum’s young daughter Maddie who plays an integral role in the plot, is wise beyond her years and drops the odd truth bomb just at the right moments.

I found this to be an enjoyable and interesting read that flowed along nicely, kept me turning the pages and had me cheering for Callum and Nolan and their HEA.

Full of passion and hope and worth much more than 5 stars.

Every once in a while a book will come across my path that is so superbly written that I feel I’m living the story.
This is such a book. I’m watching the sunrise and sunset over the bay as they waves scrape along the sand. I’m dancing the tango in all it’s passionate glory. I’m sitting at my first found family lunch filled with nerves and excitement.

Kane is complicated, insecure, strong, humble and has so many layers that no one really knows who he his. Until Abe literally dances into his life and accepts and likes Kane for who he is not what he was.
So begins the beautiful journey of Kane going from a lonely barely there existence to a life filled with meaning, friendships, happiness and passion. Passion takes many forms and they are all explored in Kane and Abe’s story. From Abe and his passion for dance to Kane and his passion for animals and, when the time is right, their everlasting passion for each other, their friends and family.

With this instalment in the Painted Bay series Jay Hogan was able to pull so many emotions from me. My heart was wrung out at times then stitched back together to only have me crying again until my face hurt from smiling so much at Kane and Abe’s beautiful HEA. Their story resonated with my soul and will stay with me forever.

Great start to a new series. 4.5 stars.

This is wonderful original tale of modern urban dragons, mages and magic in a world where the humans believe magic and the clans of mages and dragons disappeared centuries ago.
The very likeable Alric and Cameron are very attracted to each other but both take a while to overcome their insecurities before acting on it. When they finally get past that, the heat turns to high and not just because Alric is the King of the Fire Dragons! The banter between them had me laughing out loud at times and I enjoyed watching Alric just be himself and lowering the King persona.
I really enjoyed this engaging, low angst good vs evil dragon tale and look forward to seeing which of the great cast of side characters gets their story told next and what happens in the overall story arc.

Great fun original read with lots of fun and banter. Enjoyable and engaging with a great cast of main and secondary characters.
Looking forward to the rest of the trilogy.
