Reread Oct 2023: 4.5 stars. Still an excellent book, but I wanted a bit more emotion from Eragon. It’s a writing style that isn’t my favorite where it feels like you’re witnessing the main characters feelings from afar rather than being in them. I love the magic, the dragons, everything.
First read Jan 2009, 5 stars: I loved this book. I hadn't wanted to read it for a long time because I was told it was kinda of like Lord of the Rings:Dragon Version. While I guess that could be one way to describe it, I also appreciated it for its own thing. It was original, and definitely appealed to a much younger audience, while still retaining its complexity. I would definitely recommend this for anyone looking for an adventure! Or at least a book to read when you're stuck snowed/iced in, which is what I did.

Well I flew through both the first and second Maximum Ride books in a few days, and I'm impressed with the way they really pull you in. However, I'm kind of sick of the lack of answers as I get further into the series. I feel like for each new question raised another question should be answered, but instead the new questions just build on the old and I don't have answers to much of anything. Who is the voice inside Max and Ari's heads? Why and how are the Erasers and Jeb constantly following the flock around? It's frustrating, and reminds me of why I stopped watching the series "Lost." But, I still recommend this book for young readers who have trouble getting into books without getting bored. I'm gonna send this to one of my cousins who isn't a big reading fan, but I have a feeling he'll like Maximum Ride.
I absolutely loved this book. It really changed some of my ideas about how I feel about God and how I relate to him/her. It's been hard for me to really get close to God because of different reasons, and this book really showed me now. I want to read it again with a highlighter and mark all of the amazing conversations between Mack and God. It's truly worth the time. I read it in a day! In between college classes and music lessons I got it finished so quickly. It's definitely not an intense, long religious read. I recommend it to anyone!
