Pretty cute and solid, but was missing the endearing-ness of WDMR. It didn't feel as compelling and I wonder if it's because of the fairly simple plot. 

Intriguing concept, but begins losing steams towards the end. Ends up going down the well trodden sci fi tropes path. 

So sweet and so hopeful! S. K. Ali is quickly becoming one of my favorite YA authors. Her characters are dynamic and you're always rooting for them. 

Strange and contrived, but it is funny at times. Levithan's parts are really bad.

Really quick and simple read. I knew where it was going half way through the book, but I still enjoyed it a lot. 

One of the most interesting portrayals of immigrant child guilt, filial piety, and intergenerational trauma. This book is one that really needed to be written, and I'm surprised it hasn't been done before. Don't let the cover fool you, the book is filled with nuanced conversations and the protagonist is one you can really root for.
