I was sceptical through the first have of the book. But let me tell you: It picks up after the 200 page count. So, yes this was quite a slow burn for me because for the first 100 pages I didn’t really understand what was going on. Then it took some time for me to get into the story but after that 200 pages I couldn’t put it down!

I agree with everybody though who says you should know nothing about the book before you start it because anything might spoil the twist(s). Also I really enjoyed the writing (after I got over the confusing part in the beginning :D)

So, I did. think a lot about how I rate this book. Because of the struggles I had at the beginning. If I didn’t know that other people really enjoyed the second half and felt similar to me in the beginning I probably would have stopped reading after the first 100 pages. But I am so glad that I didn’t! Hence my confusion about the rating. But not often I am so captivated by a book as I was with this one in the end. So, it might be more of a 3,5 stars for me overall but I would definitely recommend reading this book if you are into dark thrillers (would really categorise this as horror)!

This is a book that is perfect to read in the summer - I do have to say I did feel the heat of the island the group travelled to even though I was mostly listening to this in an air conditioned room. However, the first half or maybe even three quarters of it did drag a little for me and I an guessing the reason for this was mainly because I didn’t really like any of the characters. Also in my opinion there was not too much ‘thrilling’ going on until the very end.

The twist however was pretty good in my opinion even though I did suspect the main part of the twist a few chapters before it actually happened.

Overall, this was an okay book for me but I’d recommend it to people who want to read a mystery with a summer feeling!

This was another book I don’t know too much about before picking it up in the library. Even though I was expecting something a little different to what the book actually was in the end I ended up really enjoying this book.

What I quite liked about this book was that we are reading about a book in a book and the serial killer who the book is about is reading it along side you. I thought this to be a good concept because it feels like it’s actually part of the story and not just two stories crammed into one book! Another thing I quite liked was actually reading about places I remember from studying abroad at UCC!

Nonetheless, since you already know who the Nothing man is from the start and most of the book is about him reading the book, the real ‘action’ only starts in the last few chapters I would say. Hence, I probably would rate it about 3.5 stars overall but rounded up because I really enjoyed the story and would recommend it!

Really enjoyed this one! It was interesting from the start and throughout I suspected quite a few people and wasn’t sure how it would turn out - which is always a good thing for me in thrillers!

However, there were a few things that bothered me towards the end. There was a lot happening and some of the connections made and decisions of our main characters I couldn’t quite follow a 100%. But overall, I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it!

This is a real quick and fun mystery/thriller. The story about Finlay and her involuntary involvement in the contract killing business is at first a little slow to pick up but a few chapters in I found it really fun and interesting to see how Finlay tries to be a good person but finds herself in more trouble along the way.
 
In my opinion the story is not a proper thriller for the most part but a funny light mystery, which I really enjoyed! It’s not only the cover that stands out! I could really picture this as a fun movie or even a series! I loved the dynamic between Finlay and Vero and am very curious about how Finlay‘s love life will continue in the second book. Currently have have a preference but will have to wait until I get to the second book!

This is marketed as a mystery thriller which I would say is the correct genre for this story. There are some thrilling elements but it is mainly about the mystery of the two sisters.

I had really high hopes for this but in the end it ended up being just okay for me. The story itself was quite interesting and I wanted to find out what the twist was but I just couldn’t really find a connection with most of the characters. The only person I actually liked was the half-brother. Also, the writing was not doing me any favours. It was quite a slow burn for most of the story which wasn’t the right choice for my reading taste with that type of story I guess.

However, I can totally see how other people might enjoy this. There are some weird family dynamics and secrets to unravel and you really want to know what actually happened when the sisters went missing since you will know right from the start that Cass is not telling the whole story!

This novel was a wild ride for me! I haven’t yet read too many proper horror novels but this story really kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time! Even though I mostly read this book in daylight, Gallows Hill made me feel very uneasy and scared which is what I really want horror novels to feel like!

Because I enjoyed this novel so much right from the start, I was a little scared that the reveal would maybe change my feelings for this story. But Darcy Coats absolutely didn’t disappoint! I really enjoyed the last few pages as well. The only thing I would have liked is to get a little more of an explanation after the reveal. But I don’t want to say to much about this to avoid any spoilers!

I really enjoyed the writing and felt connected to Harley from the start (even if I couldn’t agree with most of her choices, haha). However I was a little surprised by the supernatural aspect within the story because I was expecting something different. Also, the jump in time felt a little sudden as well. Nonetheless, the story was carried out well and I probably would have just needed the novella to be a little longer to be more invested in main part of the story but I guess the short was is the point of a novella :D. Another thing I really enjoyed though was how the book ended! It really gave me the creeps!

So overall I would give this 3,5/5 stars and I will definitely check out more of the authors work in the future! :)

I really liked the main character in the current timeline and was quite interested in how she would continue on with her personal relationships and wishes. For the past storyline: I also really enjoyed the two women, especially getting to know how their relationship advanced. I can't really decide which timeline I enjoyed more!

Lately, I am not reading too much romance novels anymore but I figured I'd try 'Into the Storm' because the synopsis kind of reminded me of the Rock Chick series which I did really enjoy.

I did quite like Audrey and the fact that her job was something quite unusual (at least in my world it is). However, even though I did enjoy this, I think this is also the reason why a good junk of the story went over my head. I just couldn't really grasp what she would actually be doing every day. Also, I didn't really understand what the SEALs were really trying to do there for the first half of the book. Hence, I guess this framework for the story just didn't really work for me.

However, I can definitely see that other readers will enjoy this. After all, it is exactly what the synopsis promises - a romantic suspense involving Navy Seals and a few lovable (and hateable) characters. So, if you are looking for a story like that (and know a little more than I do about Navy Seals and archeology), I would definitely recommend picking this up!
